We didn't homeschool. Actually didn't even think about it. But i was surely aware of the idiocy being taught in school. So. on a daily basis i did de-programming when they got home. I did this steadily, year after year. And finally, when it got to the point where the kids would come home and say, 'Mom, you won't believe what the teacher said in school today', i knew i had beaten them at the school at their own game. They're sneaky little devils.

Orientation at Virginia Tech, they would get cxrash courses and separation from parents on how tolerant to be toward homosexuals. Of course no one would harm an homosexual, but neither is it necessary to view it as a valid alternative lifestyle. There were more than a few parents irate at this propaganda. Virginia commonwealth University was much worse and further along in their own idiocy. Free mumia indeed. jackazzes.

"Of course no one would harm an homosexual." First of all, it's "a" homosexual. Get your articles right; or was this something that your parents "deprogrammed out of you?" The ability to align articles with the nouns they precede?

Second of all, plenty of people, especially college students, have harmed homosexuals.

Tolerance should be universally applicable. I would attend my college orientation at American University a few days ago. One key theme would be acceptance of individuals, regardless of their differences. No bias towards a certain/certain group of demographic(s) would be involved.

Good point. I've known some brilliant educators. And, BTW, I'm no fan of Thomas Sowell. Another point, I've spoken with several colleagues lately who have confessed that they no longer encourage their "best and brightest" students to become educators. I guess this shows they care.

It's true. I was encouraged by my teachers to go into education after showing a proclivity towards teaching when helping classmates when they asked for assistance. I originally decided not to do so, and instead went into business; after becoming burnt out, I entered a licensure and master's program despite the fact that teaching was a significant pay cut and I knew I'd be demonized by many politicians and community members. Despite this, I felt called to give back to students the gift of education that so many excellent teachers gave to me.

That dinosaurs were directly killed by asteroids. It turns out to be more complex. Also they're not slow stupid creatures, but much more birdlike. But that's advancing science, not lies.

Lincoln didn't free the slaves, the civil war was fought over other issues with slavery being a convenient cover. Lincoln didn't even care much about freeing slaves, and thus didn't do so until he thought he could use freed slaves to break the back of the South.

The dark ages really weren't all that dark. people still invented things and wrote and thought. We just didn't get it all preserved into the 20th century.

I remember my teacher tried to say that Antarctica was the big island on top of the world. I kindly pointed out that the big island was Greenland, and Antarctica was at the bottom of the world.

This was in 4th grade FYI.

Was your teacher from Argentina? Is there really a top and a bottom?

So you use "an" when the following word begins with a vowel sound, right? How long has it been this way? Why do I so often find an awkward "an" in published literature, such as that which follows?

"To establish an uniform Rule of Naturalization, and uniform Laws on the subject of Bankruptcies throughout the United States;"

Language evolves just as anything else does. Was he raised in the 18th century? If so, he has a valid argument.

Where do you people live? I went to a mix of private religious and public schools and we were drilled in grammar and punctuation constantly. Frankly I find some of the absolutely atrocious grammar by some of the far right posters on this forum to be unreadable...

So is that what has been going on? Certain people are funneled to poor schools so they are fed misinformation and they become Republicans as adults. Other people are sent to good schools and are taught vocabulary, grammar, and punctuation and they become the Democrats of tomorrow. Is that how it works?

I've got no problem with tolerance of individuals per se. More a proble with pushing an agenda. It wasn't 'don't attack these people' it was more, this is AN alternative lifestyle and for that reason should be tolerated. Toleration doesn't not necessarily mean it must be accepted as the norm.

I think she lived about 20 minutes from the school. By top I obviously mean "north pole."

I don't think there's a "top" and "bottom" to the Earth.

Here is the actual rule my friend...

    Link.

When in doubt try Google. They should teach people how to research things on their own.

One day at work I was involved in an horrific accident and suffered an horrendous injury to an hand which meant I had to be taken to an hospital for treatment. Later I was discharged and I called into an hotel on the way home for an half pint to settle my nerves.

There are always going to be sticky points that are going to be hard to teach. Frankly what should be taught to children is to go out and have fun and leave the grown up stuff to adults. If you are working on grammar, punctuation, reading, math, science, and physical activity you don't have time to worry about "alternative lifestyles." No school whether public or religious is going to give your child the perfect education. That is part of growing up. You have to tell you children that they may not always agree with the company line but being an agitator is not what they are there for. I don't always agree with what is going on at my job, but it would be counterproductive to kick up a stink about every single opinion I don't agree with. You pick your battles. My dad told me it is good to learn the party line and then go home and do some independent thinking. But really all he wanted to see was the English, Math, and Science grades on the report card. We would discuss REAL history at home all the time. A lot of the history was stuff he actually lived through. I learned to do my own research and draw my own conclusions. I also learned how to give the system what they wanted and make grades. Joining the tin foil hat brigade will not help you graduate from college with honors or get you a job anywhere but breitbart.com.

    .

    A. My children went to school in Colorado but that is not particularly relevant. It could have been anywhere.
    B. Did you post have a point?
    C. It isn't the Republicans who are trapped in non-performing schools in NYC, Washington DC, Chicago.
    D. Can Democrats read "corpsman" off a telepromter, Jebediah?

But, I'm happy you learned nothing erroneous in school. I'm sure you weren't taught that Lincoln freed the slaves. You got a good start from school and then it all went to hell. Sad.

The "h" in horrific, horrendous, and hand is a consonant sound. You should use "a" instead of "an."

Thanks for that, though I still mean North and South poles respectively. Another thing I remember from elementary school, a substitute teacher showed a picture of a prairie dog on the overhead but called it a "groundhog," to which I informed her kindly that it's a prairie dog. Seriously is it good or bad that I'm having to correct my teachers.

It depends on if he's speaking with a British accent or American. The British generally do not pronounce the "h" sound at the beginning of words when followed by a vowel.

Substitute teachers aren't certified teachers in almost every single case; they're generally members of the community with a college (or, in some states, high school) degree who are making some money while otherwise unemployed or working non-traditional hours.
