I think it's a push with the Great Black Hope leading the parade. They love Obama more than they hate gays.

That's a sweet spot. I inhabit a swing state and see the scumbaggery of Romney as disqualifying....but just slightly less than Obama's. How about we both blow it off on 11/6 and meet for amusements and poker anywhere on The Strip? MGM?

What the other guy said. But let me add:

    "It's the economy, stupid"

Might want to recheck what "smart" means, btw.

Civil Rights was not a popular thing to do but it was the RIGHT thing to do. Marriage equality might not be the popular thing to do but it is the RIGHT thing to do also.

So are they going to add into the platform that I should be able to have 6 wives, all volunteers for a slice of my pie ? I will rest Sundays, btw.

If not, why not ? We are consenting adults.

Ain't it "the RIGHT thing to do" too ?

Romney can simply ignore it, that would be the smart move, let Obama justify it... Let Obama give speeches on, let him sink his own ship on this one...

I disagree. You may lose some votes but I doubt there's many for whom this is a single issue worth staying home for. The main reason I think you're wrong is that I think this could encourage many to vote that may otherwise not - the youth vote. The younger you get, the more strongly you favor gay marriage.

You simply don't understand the older vote then, they aren't like you libs of today. They were part of the Church, any Church, they remember, they will not support this... You don't have to believe me, we'll find out in Nov...

How could a Moral Relativist know what the "right thing to do" is? :confuse:

This will go over very well with the people of North Carolina, who voted on banning gay marriage in the state.

Gary Johnson is also in this "pro" camp. The youth that would vote for Obama will still vote for him, any new voters will go Gary Johnson just like they did Ron Paul. Youth are hardly the status quo types.

We are a nation of immigrants and Muslim citizens are not pro-gay marriage, but they are pro-traditional marriage and that includes polygamy. I think perhaps because I temporarily exist in NYC and hail from Michigan--both areas with large Muslim populations I don't forget they exist like some people do.

They are not unlike evangelical Christians in that they think homosexuality can be "repaired" through God and therefore they do not see a need, nor feel we should cater to this.

I'm not suggesting that in a multi-cultural nation we cater to any one religious group, but...if we were to not use the force of government and instead repeal automatic marriage benefits and make marriages contracts, this could be handled in the courts quicker, easier, without fuss, and also not discriminate against any "state" be it single, gay or hetero couple, polygamous couple, etc.

Actually...it probably will help his re-election. The people so enraged over gay marriage werent going to vote for him anyway

That (bold) is correct and I agree 100%. The same could be said about many issues.
However, if you are saying rep's, by standing up for traditional marriage, are demonizing gay's, I disagree. Also, IMO, your vote for Gary Johnson is a waste. It may make you feel righteous, but does nothing to help the country. But, it's your choice.

LOL...OK...Your boy, President Bill Clinton signed the Defense of Marriage Act defining "marriage" and "spouse" for purposes of federal law and Obama was opposed before he got desperate...oh, I mean.."evolved".

I'm tickled the Dem's latched onto this issue.

I really hope that the Democrat Party will "do the right thing" and structure the language of their gay plank by insisting that the federal government force all of the states to marry gays. Come on, liberals, do the "right thing".

Agreed. let Obama be seen as the one thinking about all the issues EXCEPT the one on everyones mind. Stay clear of this one Mitt, America right now doesn't care.

They are just worried about keeping their base voting to avoid a landslide and being swept from congress. They know Obama is toast.

Agreed, but Obama can't run on his record so he must keep bringing up stuff like this. All Mitt has to do is figure out how to differentiate himself from Obama. There campaign slogans in a nutshell:

    Mitt: I'm not Obama
Obama: Mitt won't do any better.

I agree. Mitt Romney needs to do very little to distinguish himself from President Barack Obama. The American electorate as a whole is not bright.
