Actually, you did not. You debunked nothing that I said. What you did was fail, miserably, and then call me a name.

Okay again you're not bothering to actually read the topic.

    1. The legislation only regulated calorie content, not quality of foods.

    2. School lunches are not healthy, and the FDA has no interest in making them healthy. It continues to use "pink slime" even after Mcdonald's and fast food restaurants discontinued it.

Apparently you are the one who does not understand.

How is anyone being "forced"? No one is "forced" to buy lunch. My son just packs on days he doesn't like what's in the cafeteria.

This is a ridiculous, absurd, excuse for a thread.

It's the Michelle-factor. This one has been a Michelle defender from 2008... I think it's an obsession. She can do no wrong in his eyes. ;)

I didn't fail anything - I corrected you and showed you that you had no idea what topic you were even commenting on when you went off on your rant about "Feed your kids grease by the barrel, mainline them sugar, blah blah blah" or whatever.

Plus you were wrong, the video did indirectly mention a legislation enacted by the Obama admin. And SMW posted the link in full later in this thread.

They would rather starve than eat vegetables? Those are the low income kids, the higher income kids, were raised healthy and will not suffer under these socialist, communist, First lady Policies.

But its true, they are becoming criminals early on, bypassing the law by selling illegal pizza and doughnuts in class, on top of the usual drug trade in public schools.

Neither of which was the basis for the thread. Make your own thread about nutritional standards.

The OP in this case is about how school lunches have more vegetables that kids apparently do not want to eat.

Her sarcastic comment about vegetables was not the main point of this thread. The video quoted a legislation enacted by Obama admin in 2010, which limited the amount of calories (not the quality of food) in lunches to 850 for all students, meaning those with a weight problem and those who are fit would both be required to eat the same, simply for the sake of "not discriminating".

What? What are you even talking about? How in the holy (*)(*)(*)(*) did you correct me on a statement like that?

Basic civics. Presidents do not enact legislation. Read your Constitution.

Now that being said, the answer to my original question was 2:14.

...and you guys thought light bulbs, phosphate content of detergents, gasohol, poorly-performing toilets, and dictating cars' MPG was the end of it.

The Democrats want government to dictate every aspect of Americans' lives, including what their children eat.

The Tea Party is foursquare opposed to this entire philosophy.

Kids complaining about eating vegetables? Yes.

    Parents.

    Motherhood.

    Me.

As a republican, if you honestly believed that, you would be buying shares in Twinkies and chocolate syrup and selling them to children. Come to think of it, maybe you are -- that would explain your posts.

That doesn't force anybody to eat anything.

If it provided lifeboats, you would complain that Obama is forcing you to not swim.

    Revolt Over School Lunches?
    Sep 25, 2012 •

Criticism is mounting over First Lady Michelle Obama's lunch plan, as kids are complaining they aren't getting enough to feel full after eating.

"Some Kansas students and at least one political leader say new school lunch guidelines aimed at limiting calories and encouraging good nutrition are having an unintended consequence: Hungry kids," McClatchy reports. The report points to this parody video of kids complaining about the new lunch program established by First Lady Obama:

    (see OP for video)

Interestingly, though, the revolt over feta cheese and vegetables might not come to Sidwell Friends, the elite private school the Obama kids attend in Washington, D.C.

According to the school's website, pepperoni pizza is on the menu today:

    French Mushroom Soup
    Classic Caesar Salad
    Boston Bean Salad
    Pepperoni Flatbread Pizza
    Variety Flatbread Pizza
    Variety Veggie Flatbread Pizzas
    Sauteed Local Greens
    Sliced Melon

    *****

    Can we say HYPOCRITE?

Obviously, you've never been a parent. Kids eat what they like.

Only if they're old enough to make money and buy their own food. Otherwise they eat what I buy them. And my kids eat good, healthy food so they can stay strong and be independent in life -- do you really want kids being sickly and weak and depending on others for everything their whole lives?

Maybe it is you who are not understanding what I meant...in order to buy a lunch at school you will now be FORCED to eat bland tasting crap sandwiches because the government says it's best. Get it? Not to mention the kids who have had their home lunches taken from them because the nazi style government education system that we now have in place say it's best. Oh and did you hear that PB&J should now be considered a racist food? Get with the program man...get off the huffington MSNBC band wagon and perhaps you will hear what is really going on.

    Ain't it so!?

I posted a link earlier to a nutritionalist who was talking about how they call a teaspoon of pizza sauce a 'vegetable' and proceed to add greasy pepperoni and sugar-laced white flour crusts and call it a healthy school lunch.

That's what always happens when the govt imposes ridiculous mandates... people's #1 priority turns to getting around it.

Toddlers buying their own food? Your children must be very precocious.

Do they? I don't recall having any choice other than to eat what was served or simply go to bed hungry.

Now I am no parent, but I have never heard of a kid starving themselves to death when there was food in front of them.

Which brings me back to my basic premise in this thread. You are free to feed your children whatever garbage you like. Nothing is stopping you form shoving sugar and fat down their obese throats.

When I was a kid, if I didnt like the dinner my mother wouldnt make me eat anything but wouldnt give me any other food. I would go to bed hungry and the next day she would make the same food.
I learnt to not be a whinning (*)(*)(*)(*)(*).

No they eat what I like. If it's not in my house, they won't eat it - and I won't allow food below my standards in my house, without exception. And my kids will either eat what I decide they will, or they simply will not eat.

Though I'll make a deal with them - if they can fast for 40 days straight without dying of starvation first, then I'll relent and give them a little junk food.

She asked the question "who in here thinks they can force kids to eat anything?"

    I took the easy basket...
