Magazines publish information about the Holocaust regularly. We know a lot about it. The millions of people dead, the gas chambers, pictures of piles of bones and corpses. All spoken of openly.

Although I suspect you're talking about something else.

There is no law against Holocaust denial or mockery in the US. Such laws exist in some European countries. They are misguided and stupid.

true that. I don't think it's something you should do but if you have to, fine.

I agree. What I vehemently disagree with, though, is the government punishing people for making caricatures, whether they are in bad taste or not.
And anyway, all this happened many years ago. Seems like everyone who fought in the second world war is dead. Isn't it about time we can make fun of it now?

    Ever ask yourself why?

Why not information about the first world war? Why not information about all those germans (including women and children) who suffered under Allied occupation?

Not necessarily. We are constantly being bombarded with a lot of information about it, certainly. But how much do we really know?
Can we be sure we are getting an objective overall picture of it?

true, censorship ain't no good. And yeah, maybe it's time. or maybe not, I think most people will find it rather distasteful. But it depends on what kind of joke it is, I mean I enjoy the occasional 'hitler, gas chambers and jews' joke once ina while.

WTF? Since Germany started both wars, what do you expect? Maybe we should have stopped the war, gone home and let the Germans finish what they started?
Go figure, if Germany had not started those wars, maybe they would not have ended up being a conquered country, both times

I completely agree with you, we should let people caricature about the holocaust as they like. German laws against free speech regarding the holocaust bring the nation one stop closer to the evil they're repressing.

Yeah, it's been way more than 22.3 years since WWII. The holocaust has been funny for a long time now.

It really burns my core that people hate jews so much that they want to publish hateful, misinformed and false information designed to persecute them. But it is freedom of speech and freedom of speech is precious. It will be a sad day for everyone if we make such freedom illegal in the U.S.

I had family members that died in the Holocaust and while denying it or making fun of it is completely disrespectful, it should absolutely not be illegal. Neither should drawing the Prophet. Freedom of speech means freedom of speech and that's that. The only time it should be limited is when it encourages violence or slanders reputation in a dishonest matter. Using the fact that 6-11 million people were killed is a logical fallacy on the ground of appeal to emotion. I abhor this hypocrisy.
