First it will never happen. Second it would be dangerous for the reason I gave earlier. Things happen you could not anticipate. Lets say someone promised I will not use military force unless the country itself is attacked. But one of allies like Japan was attacked and asked for our help under the treaty with us. What's a president to do? But again you will and rightfully so never see any candidate let themselves be boxed in that way. No offense but it is a naive idea.

Be expected to use accurate language?

I mean god forbid we expect the president of the US to be put under oath, and make statements that aren't lies!

Again, the majority of the population will not oppose a president who is helping a valuable ally. The whole point is that we have the option to do something if something goes terribly wrong. The impeachment system does not work. By the time an impeachment could happen, they president will either resign before it happens, or the damage is already done.

Agreed, and we should stop them from (R)aping us as well.

Exactly. Honestly I think if enough liars are sacrificed, eventually the truth tellers will rise from the ashes.

Thats all deliberate. You can't have it easy to bring Presidents down or you are curbing their power and authority. (*)(*)(*)(*) look at that consumate liar George W Bush. Weapons of mass destruction my ass. Up to the people to decide before electing if they trust people or not and unless they do things outlined in impeachment articles you have to wait to next election to do anything about them.

I like this because it opens the door for challengers to break the status quo. This would be a very valuable tool for a smart person.

Make very specific statements under oath, and it would protect you from being forced through political pressure, or special interest from going back on your words.

A politician could use this to protect himself.

That's not right though. This is not a game. This is hundreds of millions of lies. I don't believe anybody should be able to sit with all that power comfortably and do what they will freely. They should be able to be openly questioned because 300million is greater than 1.

Why because I want to stop the (D)eceit, or (R)aping?

Yes, exactly! That is why I say this one little thing could fix the entire system completely. It gives the real leaders an opportunity to shine.

I'm new as well, but I have to disagree somewhat, in that you're going to get both here. "The nature of the beast", so-to-speak.

To anybody who agrees, I stared a Facebook page based on this idea. If you want to help me out, give it a like. The more likes we get, the more popular the page will get, and the more popular the page gets, the more people will hear the idea and decide to support it. It won't be an easy task, but I honestly want to put my heart into trying to get this noticed and make it happen.

Um, please read the first sentence in your post above. It's contradictory to itself, don't you think?

But, it's possible I over-reacted, and that you have legitimate points to make. If so, I apologize. Please continue to make your points known, but try to do it by replying to the message itself, and not the messenger's perceived limitations.

If you can't, then we'll both know the pointlessness of replying to each other, and you could still have your fun.

If you don't walk a point out to its conclusion, people will use this to spin in circles all day.

FYI, these message boards are home to paid shills, and DNC and RNC operatives. If this is your first experience on a message board, you may want to prepare yourself for the utter propaganda you are about to be exposed to.

It's not my first board, but since I'm new here, I'm just being polite ...before returning to my default setting of being a smart...

As for the propaganda, when I choose to, I'll run circles around the paid shills. One thing they can't understand is how to successfully fight honesty. :fight:

    Can't happen.

Your opinion on what is a lie sounds like you are holding Obama to his statements. Republicans voted against his policy so who's fault is it that he didn't carry out his plan?

Shouldn't your post be more directed at the straight up obvious lies we are seeing today used by the Republicans in the debates? They are simply making up numbers because they know Americans don't follow politics and won't research it. It's why there are so many fact checkers out there now ripping apart the GOP.

Lies will catch up to people. Obama should have stated why his policies haven't worked in the debates but didn't mention they were voted down. He is actually saying again that he wants to run the "Anti-outsourcing bill" of 2010 even though it got turned down. He just never mentioned that Republicans voted against it as a whole. He also should have called out Romney on his numerical lies, but didn't.

Obama is sure he has already won and that can cost him. He thinks all of America knows what he knows but they don't, they hate polictics. Obama needs to spend more time with Republicans, to dumb himself down a bit and realize that people actually believe this garbage.. :)

    One weak year.

Well, if the congress is all following with votes that they promised and the president is bringing up the ideas that he promised, then nothing happens. That's how the system works

i kind of agree, but the world changes and people learn and what was good then might not be good now. Its really the medias fault for not focusing on the lie, they have and agenda, both sides, it seems that the media has broken down into reporting what they see fit, instead of the truth. politicians know they can lie so they do. Obama lies more than any other president i have seen and people eat it up, i will give him most of the time it is when he is speaking to his base, and telling them what they want to hear (maybe its his base that are the liars i dont know). But i can fault him for that everyone does it. So what i am saying is take their power away and give it back to the people and their lies will not matter gary johnson for pres 2012

Well that's mainly a point. Its a solution to take away their power and give it to people who don't lie. These people just need a consequence to lying, that's all.
