Using a Paki IP proxy address, WND successfully contributed to Campaign Obama under the name of Osama Binladen with a prepaid credit card. They have since received several additional solicitations for the greedy lawless Scumbag-in-Chief.

    Read it and weep:

And by the way....Al Qaeda is alive and GM is close to a second death.

The president is busy... running the country. He does not personally scrutinize every small donor. The small donor donation system is automated. The data is collected and can be examined by the appropriate people at any time. Republicans and Democrats routinely return donations deemed inappropriate. If you did the same thing with the Romney website or anyone running for offices website the exact same thing would happen. My question is is there a penalty for lying about your identity when making a direct campaign contribution?

I believe the correct response is that the source just admitted to committing a crime. Perhaps the SEC should pay them a visit.

I kid, I kid. We all know the SEC is a corporate lapdog with no teeth!

Can you say that about all of them? This one came from a foreign IP. How many others did also?

    Calm down.

Once your life includes scapegoating for the Scumbag-in-Chief there's no upper limit on the atrocities you must rationalize and ignore.

Aside from the irony of WND donating to the Obama reelection fund, I do not understand the point here.

Was it to give money and pretend that they caught the campaign doing something illegal?

It's not pretend. Accepting foreign donations IS illegal.

The donations were from WND. Is that not a US based blog?

Are we still talking about foreign donations?

They're illegal, and must be returned. So the campaign returns them. What's the problem?

I suppose you could argue that the campaign doesn't do enough to discourage foreign donations in the first place. But let's see what ol' Mitt is doing on his website:
    https://www.mittromney.com/donate

Ah, I see. He has a "consent statement!":

By clicking "Contribute", donors agree that:

This contribution is made from my personal funds and is not drawn on an account maintained by a corporation, labor union, or national bank.

I am a U.S. citizen or lawfully admitted permanent resident and this contribution will not be reimbursed by another person.

Well that will certainly stop foreign donations....

You can't just ban donations from overseas residents because -- it will shock you to know -- there are U.S. citizens that live overseas and have every right to contribute to campaigns.

So unless you have a way for an automated donor system to automatically detect that somebody isn't a citizen, I submit that the current practice -- auditing donations and returning illegal ones -- is both reasonable and practical.

Does ANYONE think if I sent $20 to Romney's campaign from "Mr. Iam Satan", "Dr. Abortion", or "Karl Marx", Romney would turn it down?

The donation came from a foreign IP. they had no way of knowing the source was a US blog. Nor did it deter them when they though it didn't. They just accepted it as if it came from alqueda itself.

DID YOU EVEN BOTHER TO READ THE STORY?

I've donated from a foreign IP. What's your point?

Do you not realize $20 is small potatoes and the donation system in automated? The information is logged and Democratic and Republican campaigns routinely return donations. Besides why do you care? You think anyone that donates $20 is going to get a special audience with the President?!

Yes, I read the story. The money came from the US. Not sure why there is even a question about it. The server dopes not seem to have anything to do with it.

so someone use a proxy and donate to Romney, my guess is Romney doesn't filter proxies either, cash is cash

I would test it, but I don't want to give Romney $20 bucks
