Looks like only a few seats of Democratic pickup in the House. Would have been nice to get more, but the house was so crazy gerrymandered after the 2010 redistricting, just holding was a struggle. The 2010 loss will be hurting Dems big until 2020.

But then, when the Republicans create a lot of R+4 districts and a few D+20 districts, it works great for them, right up until the time when the electorate shifts by that 4 points. Then the whole mess crumbles.

Mitch McConnell also joins the "no compromise" posse before the ink is dry on the election.

Tell me again how it's Obama's fault that bipartisanship is dead?

It's been pointed out several times, already. "We won, elections have consequences, you lost".

Good on McConnell. May he stymie Obama at every turn, for the good of the country.

Not everybody wants to "fundamentally transform America" into a Eurosocialist state. You just need to accept that. I'd rather this country burn to the ground than become Greece.

Voting Obama so that you can keep your welfare checks is a pathetic reason.

Welfare should be used for those in dire economic needs like that single mother trying to raise three kids, not be wasted on people who have zero intentions of being hard workers. You need to be stripped of your welfare and be forced to work for a living.

If wealth is so skewed that it needs redistribution then get on with it.

Trump is a bigger racist than McConnell.

I thought that both Romney's and Obama's speeches were very good.

What is wrong with marijuana legalization ?

The constitution/ bill of rights includes life liberty and the persuit of happiness along with limited government intervention.

This means that the state should not make laws without good justification.

In a free society people are allowed to take risks .. including risks with their own life. Skiing, Alcohol, Cigarettes, sex, sky diving, bungee jumping, and so on are examples.

What is the significant danger of marijuana that poses a risk that is so much greater than the aformentioned that the state should intervene ?

Agreed .. The GOP had the election handed to them on a silver platter .. such a bad economy and they still couldn't win

    What a bunch of idiots.

Well, I was wrong. I thought it would be extremely close, but for some reason people flinched away from the Republicans at the last minuted just enough to only make it close. The narrow win in Virginia and the surprisingly straightforward win in Ohio sealed the deal for Obama, but the Democrats also did OK in the House and Senate (little change in both). I'm looking forward to a more in-depth analysis of the results (as opposed to all the opiniated and stupid op-ed pieces that will come out in the next few days).

There seemed to be a higher amount of fuss about voting irregularities this election. Fortunately the problems seems to benefit/hurt both parties about the same (key word being "seems") but I'll also be interested in seeing whether there were more problems or just more reporting of them.

OK lookit. This is where I break with most "conservatives". There is nothing more disfunctional than soimebody who says they are for personal freedom but opposed to personal choices like Drugs and Prostitution.
Making this stuff illegal and punishable by law was frowned on by Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus main contribution (other than salvation) was to separate Sin from Crime. He ended Sharia Judaism and created Christianity.
He stopped a stoning of an adulterer, and healed the sick on the Sabath because these are mere sins, not crimes against Man and God.
He separated Church from state further by saying "Render unto Caesar that which belongs to Caesar, and Render unto God that which belongs to God."

The illegality of Marijuana in this country was not established until 1920 with the Marijuana Tax act. This was foisted upon us by the Cotton industry, which was still recovering from it's loss of cheap labor after the end of slavery. They did not want competition from hemp.

Republicans and Conservatives need to end the opposition to the removal of Sharia law from our books. Because that's exactly what it is. Sharia law.

Yup. Those who were so confident Romney would win, dismissing the preponderance of evidence to the contrary, aren't in a good position to call others "idiots".

I never said I was for beating anybody up. But we have to decide what kind of country we want to be. Do we want to continue being a country at least sets some limits on drugs, etc......or shall it be a free for all?
