Normally I would agree with you. But I suspect it will not really make such a huge difference. Don't forget that 1 million undocumented migrants were entering into the USA from Mexico every year before America ran out of any more entry level jobs for them. I still oppose their statehood.

This has been a long running dream of the Democrats for a few decades, anything they can do to take on more low-income minority voters. But you know, the Republican party is really to blame for the present situation. The border guards was intentionally underfunded under the watch of George W. Bush, who held the naive notion that all these low income workers would be good for the economy (we all know how that theory turned out). The Republican Party shot themselves in the foot, repeatedly, again and again. Now they are reaping what they sowed. It's a terrible terrible situation, and America has been flooded with poverty. The one thing I hope will come out of all this is that the Democratic Party will come after the Republican party elites, bringing punishment in the form of insanely high taxes. But it will be working Americans and the lower middle class that will suffer the most. The wealthy don't have to worry about burglaries and bad school districts in their expensive neighborhoods and gated communities.

If the puerto ricans get to vote on this in a referndum, why not the american people.? I don't trust congressmen - they sell their vote on every issue.

I vote no on letting 4 million illiterate welfare bums into the country.

Any way we can trade Hispanics for racists like the author of the OP? That would really be a way to improve America.

No, the fact you hold racist, stereotyped views makes you a bigot.

First off, race is a myth. People of different colors have children all the time, so no one has pure white or black blood.

Secondly, King did not hate whites. His desire was not for blacks to live off white people, his desire was for full equality among everyone and for everyone to enjoy the same opportunities as a country. His push for equality was done through peaceful protests, even when racists reacted violently to the protests.

What people need to understand is that racism has had nothing but negative effects on the country. Slavery was part of the reason why the Civil War lost so many men and racism resulted in unfair suppression of non-whites for many decades afterwards even after slavery was gone.

But if they became a state then they would be americans... and their relatives would be americans, and they would be sending that money to a state...

not decades ago... they have fought with american soldiers in every armed conflict in the last century. The reason we upgraded their status in 1918 was because we wanted to draft people from there in WW1 (which we did) in modern times, thousands of them have served in both Iraq and Afghanistan in the U.S. army. If you think those men and women don't deserve the stars and stripes then you should probably take a look at your life.

Race is a myth? That means you oppose affirmative action, right?

Worked out great for the indians. None of them work now - they just collect welfare and drink booze 24/7 on the reservation. All these minorities have only one goal - live off whitey.

Affirmative action is not mutually exclusive to race, so your point is moot.

Right, and this isn't repeated on the same order for the rich, wealthy, and religious? The Democrats are evil, here, have a tax subsidy, tax break, or tax cut! If you elect us, we'll cut your taxes by 20%!! Mitt Romney said this blatantly, and you guys accuse Obama of "buying" votes? Good grief and gravy....

Nothing a six pack of nukes won't solve. That'll take care of Israel.

According to the Huff only 46% of the PRs voted for statehood. That means that the movement is dead because it lacks majority support. There's nothing to argue about this issue.

A Majority Didn't Support StatehoodWith just 46 percent of the ballots cast, statehood doesn't have the support of the majority of the Puerto Rican electorate.

True, but if race is a myth as you say, then race-based affirmative action should end, shouldn't it? Why can't libs think logically.

Huffy-p lies about everything. PR voted 65% for statehood - meaning going on welfare and living off whitey.

    Because it's BS, that's why.

Of the top 15 welfare states, only one is red.
