Enough is enough -World condemns Israel's creeping stealthy illegal land grab

I'm in support of the British Govt working with other EU members , to take firmer action against Israel , I'm also emailing our constituency MP - to vote for stronger measures . For starters, we could ban the import of any products from the settlements and insist on labelling of origin as a precondition of all imports from that country . and review any resent trade agreements with Israel ."

The anticipated swing has started. Soon there will be only 2 nations standing on an isolated island in a sea of world opinion .... ooops, I forgot the Micronesian states.
Someone from Mars will have full right to ask why "on earth" those two nations believe that they are the only two in step.

A thief is a thief, no matter how much mythical "cologne" it tries to use to mask the truth.

What a laugh that Israel accuses the PA of unilateral actions given what she did on 14th May 1948 ..... UNILATERALLY.

It's all well and good, but it's meaningless if all the rhetorical bluster isn't backed up by effective action. The US might talk the talk clearly as a PR stunt, but unless it's backed up by action, it's worthless. This kind of stuff has a history with the US constantly on the side of the criminal party. Remember the recent double whammy Orwellian doublespeak of a statement by Obama following Israel's latest humiliation? This is where, with a straight face, he said that Israel had the right to DEFEND itself against rocket attacks, whilst conveniently overlooking the fact that his drones kill innocent people in Somalia, Yemen and Pakistan. The entire world, it seems, is out of step except for the criminal Zionist state and a minority of its imperialist backers?

This is just the beginning. Israel is going to find itself REALLY isolated, especially by taking steps that are NOT in line with what their current allies (US and Canada) are allowing as "reasonable steps!"

Nethanayu is hanging himself. . .I am anxious to see what happens in the next Israeli elections!

IF the elections are legal, I bet he will lose!

I'm afraid Netanjahu wouldn't lose the next elections even if all our governments including the US withdrew their ambassadors from Israel - which is what they should do.
People tend to become blindly patriotic and irrational when they feel under threat. Which makes them more prone to vote for idiots acting as 'strong leader'. As can be seen in US-Americans granting G.W. Bush a second term to the shocked disbelief of the world.
But Netanjahu will almost certainly hang Israel if he continues these brazen policies much longer.

I've already called my MP to complain and fired off a couple of emails protesting the land theft and calling on them to call it exactly that.

won't go anywhere I"m sure, but at least I feel a micron better.

    Wonder if there's a petition........

    So true!!
I was there and saw exactly how the lager mentality works ... in the very similar case of Apartheid South Africa.
It required a true visionary in the form of F.W. de Klerk to bring sanity to prevail and to realise where the best long-term interest of his (white Afrikaner) people lay .... not perfect but at least manageable.

Netanyahu is nowhere in De Klerk's class. And his supporters have been even more brainwashed that the Trannsvall boere. Like by believing that UNSC resolution 242 gives Israel the right inn perpetuity to occupy what is not theirs, simply through inertia to international law and opinion. Just like the boere did. If you don't believe me, just check this forum on that topic. Better still, I might revive it in the light of recent events. So I too expect Netanyahu to win again.

Israel .... wake up, express your wish to initiate negotiations based on '242' IN GOOD FAITH (as opposed to Oslo and Camp David II) by accepting the Arab offers of 2002 and 2007 (even if belatedly) and try to save your country.

This echoes my thoughts exactly; Israel was already well on the way to regional and global pariah status, and this latest move has cemented that. Netanyahu has run out of feet to shoot himself in.

The news coming out of Yemen is perfectly awful.. AQ practically controls the south and they are cutting off heads right and left with accusations of "spy"... men and women.. They are crucifying people and leaving the bodies hanging for months.. It is savage and innocents are caught in the middle. Innocents are always caught in the middle.

IMO.. Hamas was in the wrong to rain rockets down on Israel. What was accomplished? 10,000 homes in Gaza destroyed.. For what?

    What were they to do?

64 years of this and just look at Bibi as mad as ever.

The ones to blame are not Hamas. The ones to blame are the ones who allowed it to get to this for 64 years

Incredibly, the UK's ambassador to Israel is a Zionist Jew. Such an obvious conflict of interest is unprecedented. As a former UK ambassador to Uzbekistan remarked, it's akin to the UK government appointing an Islamic fundamentalist to be the ambassador to Iran.

I know... Hamas wasn't around at all until 1987... But if you are going to play to win, you don't give Israeli hardliners ammo to use against you.

Let's talk with rational Christians, Jews and Muslims... and be willing to meet them halfway.

I am going to have to start agreeing as much as I don't like Hamas or Palestine. In the sense that if the international community is now deciding to recognize palestine as a legal country, we have to start backing that legality. Meaning, if Israel starts building on palestinian territory, then they are doing so illegally. Unless they have the permission of the government of Palestine to do so. What I mean by palestinian territory is, the territory identified by the international community as palestinian territory. Not the territory the palestinians believe they are entitled to that is identified as Israeli territory.

I wish the world would just let them go at it and duke it out once and for all. I'm sick of those two little pissant countries causing so much trouble across the globe. I could care less about either of them anymore.

That is Marlowe's position based on his comment. I see we don't share the same sense of humour.

I am glad world condemnation is occurring here. Israel is running out of sympathy and is going to find itself isolated before too long. They're like the spoiled kid that gets to do whatever they want because someone is enabling them to be able to do so. When Israel's sympathy runs out, there will no longer be an enabler and they will fall. I think it's time they put on their big boy pants(as well as the Hamas/Hezbollah/PA as well) and figure out a real way to solve the situation. None of those parties will though, until they stop having something to gain from continuing the conflict. They'll blow themselves up in the process, but they don't care, because it's how they retain power and influence. All of them.

Not everyone , (thank gawd) just far too many in positions of influence + power , whoes loyality ito our country is undoubtedly questionable.
