The Corruption Perceptions Index ranks countries and territories based on how corrupt their public sector is perceived to be. A country or territory’s score indicates the perceived level of public sector corruption on a scale of 0 - 100, where 0 means that a country is perceived as highly corrupt and 100 means it is perceived as very clean. A country's rank indicates its position relative to the other countries and territories included in the index. This year's index includes 176 countries and territories.

Denmark, Finnland and Norway are the winners.

Greece is the most corrupt European country.

Somalia is most corrupt country in the world.

Interesting results although Germany was only placed 13th, which is not as well as I would have expected.

I am curious to see if there is a noticeable indirect relationship between prosperity and corruption. It does seem like the most corrupt countries in the report are the poorest.

I agree, Liebe, Germany 5 points behind the Netherlands is a bit imbalanced knowing both countries.
Seems like Northern Europe, Australasia and the oligarchies of Asia get it right.
And I suppose that Canada has more in common with Australia than with the USA.
So how does Barbados stand out from the rest. What is its 'secret'?

Thanks for pointing out the new 2012 TCP index.

There is no way this is even remotely accurate. I know the Philippines is much higher than 105 on the list. That government is probably the most corrupt government I have ever seen and I have been all over asia. It is corrupt all the way down to the menial level of government there. Everyone takes bribes to get things done there. Just walk into any government office where there is a long line there and there will be people asking you if you want express service for an additional fee.

Express service doesn't have to be corruption working, its quite normal practice with lots of services public and private. For example I have just applied for a Chinese visa where I could opt for express service for a price.

Only this doesn't measure real corruption, only perceptions and these can depend on many factors. For example here in Denmark I believe that the high incidence of family members being employed in the same public kindergartens is indicative of nepotism and so corruption but this is not perceived as such by most.

    Denmark, Finnland and Norway.

    Why those three?

    Geographically close, I guess.

Norway's experiment with Bastoy Island, fascinating too, btw.

Perhaps their size generally leads to less corruption...

When the money goes into the pockets of those working the counters, it is corruption.

It's the corruption that keeps a country poor. In many cases the accumulative wealth of individuals in a poor country, can be greater than the accumulative wealth of people living in wealthier nations. The Germanic nations progress because they have always been community minded. It's part of their culture.

A map showing the distribution of the World's wealth resembles the map linked in the OP.

    Its certainly a factor.

There is quite a spread of "community mindedness" in the Germanic countries and I would include US as essentially Germanic. The truth is "community mindedness" can both be a strength and a weakness depending on other factors, and that goes for other cultural traits too. Many poor countries are very "community minded" for example Pakistan whereas the US is very individualistic and has achieved considerable progress.

    It is a lie.

And they do perpetuate the lie.

But they know it is a lie.

Therefore, they do not believe it.

    God's Chosen People

The American people have been led to believe that Jews are "God's Chosen People". This myth was started by a small group of Jews. A few Jewish leaders took excerpts from the Bible and interpreted them as "Chosen People". But, isn't it odd that it is not the religious Jews who claim to be "God's Chosen People." It is the atheistic non-believing Jews who claim that honor.

Leading the cry, "We are God's Chosen People" are the Zionist/Marxist (Ashkenazi) Jews who for political purposes chose Judaism and who don't have a drop of biblical Jewish blood in them.

One Israeli religious Jew said it well, "At one time we Jews were chosen by God to be his messengers. But, long ago we forfeited that right".

Anyone who has read the Bible with an open mind knows that God gave Jews of that time special favors. But, it was in the form of covenants. In these covenants were conditions — the conditions were that God demanded the Jews obey His Word. Time after time the Jews broke the covenants. They rejected God and turned to adoring mammon. It doesn't take a biblical scholar to realize that long ago even the real Jews lost the right of being God's chosen people.

In comparing the degree to which the followers of the 3 major religions practice their beliefs, I make this observation:

Judaism — Few Jews, Sephardic or Ashkenazi, are religious. This is true in America, in Israel and world-wide.

Christianity — The Christians' religion has felt the influence of Jewish meddling and infiltration (especially in America) resulting in confusion and bickering between the various Christian denominations. This has led to a 'lukewarm' attitude among most Christians toward their religion. There is evidence to prove that Jews, or one of their many fronts, have started many of the Christian denominations and thus dominate doctrine.

Islam — Moslems, who follow the teachings of Islam, are by far the most fervent of the 3 major religions in following their religious beliefs.

The Judeo-Christian ethic we hear so much about in America is a big joke — the result of an intense Zionist propaganda campaign.

I'll toss in one last thought about the "God's Chosen People" myth: God said, 'Beware of those who call themselves Jews and are not, for they lie'. Could it be the Ashkenazi Jews are the people to whom God was referring?

I thought it was about corruption and countries.

Are Israel exempt from the chat, just because you love them?

did you get an answer ?

Anyhow, this holier than thou attitude expressed in the op is rather sycophantic. I mean, you can bet uk and us are regarded as not remotely corrupt which in itself resigns this survey to the garbage bin, as are most polls.

the reason norway denmark and finland come out on top???? because they are totally irrelevant. with power comes corruption thus the least powerful are the least corrupt [ in todays society that is judged from a materialist pov]

    No.

But I would put them top, if they could be faily measured.

But, as we all know, the chosenites are not to be called into question, so let's hate on Greeks... ;)

Well, it is a title they have not so much as placed on themselves, but distorted.

In religous terms, it meant covenants, that is what they were chosen for, special conventants, deals if you like.

Which, if you stick with the religous narrative, they broke. These Germanic Ashekanzi 'Jews', cannot use that narrative, as they were never religous, and most often entirely atheist, yet they do use it, of course. Not to mention they have not a drop of blood that links them to the 'Israelites' of the bible.

Exploit the term, and distort it.

Well, for one thing, I am not religous, therefore, the term has no meaning to me, it either comes down to religous Jews believing they were 'chosen' to enter into special deals with 'god', or the rebrand implication, as brought to you by non religous 'atheist Jews'.

For another thing, were I to decide I wanted a 'spiritual' aspect to my life, I would surely not choose any of the three desert religiions, or any of their variants, as they strike me as being more culpable, for more blood and killing, than any political construct, that has ever existed.

If I wanted to select something, I may choose Buddism, which does not have all the fire and brimstone, and all of the infantacide, genocide, and animal sacrifice, of the OT, for instance.

However, you should read up on the Ethiopian Jews, and there experiences, when they 'returned' to Israel.

Now, as far as 'unspoiled' true Judaism goes, it is believed they were most so, because life moves at a slower pace, in Ethiopia, therefore, the religion is less contaminated by time and events.

One Jewish women, who has lived in Israel for 28yrs, said that in reality, these people, and the culture they had brought, should really have been a 'gift', as it were.

She went on to say, and explain how their aged old and preserved cultured, was literally washed from them, and they were Zionised, so to speak.

Zionist Jews did not want THIS. They hate it. So they absorb. And they alter. Besides, the E European and German Askkenazi Jews were not 'Hebrew'. Almost none of them could speak it, and knew nothing of it. They spoke Yiddish, a language of German dialect.
