I say we tax everyones income 100%. We give every last penny to the liberal parasites. The sooner the 'rich' and working class are flat broke, the sooner this country implodes into a full fledged 3rd world nation. The conservatives will survive, cause we can take care of ourselves. But it'll be a blast watching the limp wristed liberals roaming the streets, offing each other for a crumb of bread.

This is just garbage. There is not a single simple solution to this problem. You can't expect cutting the budget is the only way to save the day. There has to be a multi-facited solution which includes not only cutting the budget, but also raising taxes. Everyone is going to have to take a hit in order for us to level out of this spiraling deficit. That means, cutting social programs, trimming military spending, smaller government, cutting unecissary programs and raising taxes. Simply auditing the government and making it more efficient will cut a large chunk of spending. Everyone must be willing to take a bit of the cut. Instead, everyone is trying to push the cuts off on to someone else. No one wants to pay the debt. If no one wants to pay it, it will never be paid. Everyone needs to take a hit to the pocket book equally because we all own this debt.

Why do you think we should do that?

Sounds like a silly idea to me.

Simply collecting revenues and cutting military spending to 2000 proportionate to GDP levels would eliminate the deficit.

Make SS and Medicare means tested and we are back in surplus land.

Of course it's silly to you. You, like most libs, couldn't survive if the golden goose actually died. Who would fund your welfare lifestyles? So how long do you seriously think the working class and upper class are going to work harder, longer, and for less pay, just to support the freeloaders? The sooner the makers up and leave, the sooner the takers will be on their own. I realize you think Obama will take care of you, but I don't see that happening. No, it's time for the libs to discover what real poverty is. You wanted it, you protested for it, and you voted it. It's time the makers do you all a favor and give it to you

What "welfare lifestyle" are you referring to?

Is it your normal practice to spout BS about things you know nothing about? Oh wait, it is.

Yep, just raise taxes and cut the military. God forbid even thinking about touching welfare, SS, Medicare, Gov't waste, Obamacare, unemployment, or the ever expanding govt agencies. Don't even give that a thought. Just raise taxes on everyone (well, everyone that works, which eliminates most liberals), and cut the military. Like I just said, sounds good to me. don't stop at your 90% tax rate. Take it up to 100%.

Uh, the top tax rate was 39.6% in 2000.

Do you always spout BS about things you know nothing about? Oh wait, you do.

The lifestyle of getting something for 'nothing'. Welfare, unemployment, Obamacare, free lunches, free birth control, free abortions, etc, etc. All the things near and dear to every Obama voter. Or were those all things conservatives were fighting for?

    That's a nice speech.

But Obama has no intention of cutting.the federal budget beyond gutting national defense.

Yeah, and what happened when Bush lowered it? Revenues increased, unemployment dropped, and the economy boomed. This continued till, purely coincidentally, democrats took congress in 2006. Odd huh?

A few pages ago your liberal buddy said " Tax rates were 90% during the time when America grew into an economic powerhouse". Obviously he thinks it's a good idea to go back to that. Hell, I do too. But if 90% turned us into an economic powerhouse, 100% would turn us into the most powerful economy in the history of the universe.

So on what basis do you claim I have a "welfare lifestyle"?

Do you always make up BS about things you know nothing about?

    Oh wait. You do.

So, did you have the idea to cut spending first?

First we need to end baseline budgeting. Then we need real cuts. We can start small. We can keep all Constitutional programs at today's levels while reducing everything that is not found in the constitution by 5%. Repeat every year for the next decade.

Repeal every regulation passed on the last year. Begin reviewing all regulations. Anyone in the business of creating new regulations needs to be let go. Any regulation that does not increase business activity must go before congress for a vote. The percentage of the win will determine the life of the regulation. A regulation that passes with a simple majority will be valid for one year. 55% will get you 18 months. 60% will get you two years. All regulations will expire and must be renewed by the Congress with a tabulated vote.

That should get us well along the way to liberty and freedom.

    Year - Revenues - % GDP
    2000 2,025.2 20.4%
    2001 1,991.2 19.4% <-Tax cut
    2002 1,853.2 17.4%
    2003 1,782.3 16.0% <-Tax cut
    2004 1,880.1 15.9%
    2005 2,153.9 17.1%
    2006 2,406.7 18.0%
    2007 2,567.7 18.3%
    2008 2,523.6 17.7% <- Tax cut
    2009 2,104.6 15.1% <-Tax cut
    2010 2,161.7 14.9% <- Tax cut
    2011 2,302.0 15.3%
    2012 2,450.0 15.6%

Good for him. Take it up with him.

But it is true that since FDR, America's best decades were the 1950s and 1960s with a top marginal tax rate of 70-91%, so it didn't seem to hurt our country that bad. Next best period was Clinton who raised taxes in 1993.

The really smart ones will tell you that liberty is essential. Governments take ones liberty and (*)(*)(*)(*) it away.

REucing tax rates for all while making sure everyone pays something is the right answer.

No thanks. I like living in a country were we don't have hordes of the elderly living under freeways and begging at stoplights and poor kids aren't turned away at hospitals.

.... Which is why the Rand Paul House budget continued deficit spending FOREVER!!!!!

I would suggest that the message to both Republicans and Democrats would be to cut spending on things like foreign wars and interventionism (that created the terrorist threats against America), end the War On Drugs (that creates crime and puts hundreds of thousands of non-violent people in prison) and increase tax revenues by eliminating the Capital Gains tax loophole and treating all income the same which would allow a slight reduction in the income tax rates helping small business owners that produce jobs.

So far the Democrats are off base by not addressing tax revenues by eliminating the Capital Gains tax loophole and the Republicans are in La-La land attacking programs that are independently funded and have never created a dime of deficits or debt (Social Security/Medicare) and not addressing increasing federal revenues at all.

We don't need a trillion dollar change over ten years. We need a trillion dollar change for every year to balance the budget NOW. If Congress and the White House aren't addressing a balanced budget now then their blowing smoke up our collective butts because they're not addressing the problem!! When are Americans going to tire of the unending deficits being proposed by Republicans and Democrats?

All Obama voters expect something from the government in exchange for their vote.

Greece had a 40% tax noncomplaince rate with massive corruption in both business and government. It would not matter what the tax rate and Greece would still be broke.

As for Spending and borrowing, you might want to tell that to Bush Jr and Romney. Both had deficit induced budgets. With Romney, he was cutting government service even further.

A start would be the farm subsidies while still adhering to limited government. The farm subsidies would only be available to farms whose gross receipts ws $1 million with 20 or fewer employees. Consolidated groups would be aggregated together as to make sure true small farmers will only receive such benefits to help alleviate the economies of scale against the large corporate farms. This would save about 60% in farm subsidies already allocated currently.

There are ways to eliminate unneccessary spending if we adhere to core fiscal principles with realistic political gain. Large companies do not need the tax breaks and have 100's of ways to keep their tax bill the same. It may take more corporate planning, but it will be worth it in the long run.

I'm a Libertarian and this is the most stupid proposition I've ever heard from either a liberal or a conservative.

How about a little "fiscal conservatism" which requires that before anything else we pay our bills. Balance the budget FIRST! Then we can look at reducing spending. As a person if my bills are too high I pay the bills and then seek ways to reduce spending. I don't stop paying the mortgage or the electric bill first.

Next, 99% of all regulations are to protect the liberty and freedom of the People. OSHA regulations, financial regulations, and environmental regulations are all about protecting the American People and all of them exist because "business" violated the Rights of the People necessitating the regulations. Yes, 1% of the regulations are bad regulations but we're missing about 20% of regulations that should exist but don't because.... they're predominately blocked by Republicans in Congress.

The Republican philosophy is, "We don't care if Americans are driven into poverty or have to die because of unregulated enterprise as long as the wealthy can make more money."

Seriously, some people need to get a grip on reality.
