Not one of the supernatural claims of the Abrahamic faith's have come true, they can't prove a one, so why in the heck would anyone believe the rest of the stuff they say, such as Jesus being divine? Why? It must be FEAR that drives the religious mind. Your thoughts?

Whoa, hold on! You're saying that if Christians just happened to be brought up, raised, in say a HINDU family that they'd turn out most likely to be HINDUS and not Christian! What! No, no, no, I'm SURE that all Christians on this forum carefully and methodically researched all the major religions, including non-theism, before they settled on their choice. :)

Seriously, that picture was me, as a child.

Religion is as credible as global warming, or probably even less credible, since they don't offer scientific data to back it up....yet they demand their children get good grades in science class in school....hypocrites!

Theology isn't science and those that think they are synonymous are just fools. Religion is a way to direct society and science is a way to gathering knowledge. When theologists delve into science or science delves into religion, the result is always unsatisfactory. Religion has much more credibility when it comes to the human condition than science does and is based on thousands of years of actual experience. It is very philosophical in nature and not something that science really deals with.

Religon is primarily about an assumption on what would happen after death. So everyone has a religion including the OP. The only difference is that whether you realize your own religion or not.

What data can you provide to support that position?

Science has done away with the mythological ideas of human condition in many ways and provides a much better understanding of why we behave the way we do. We can see how the human condition is effected by the environment one grows up in and the working knowledge we posses of the world in which we live. Nothing about Gods, angels, demons, or evil spirits have ever given answers to the questions of the human condition but have in many ways impeded our understanding of it.

So religious people remove from their religious texts the parts about killing gays, genocide against certain groups being acceptable, then, right? No, it's about CONTROL over us.

Can science tell us its wrong to rip another to shreds if our animal instinct tells us otherwise? Science does tell us we're animals like any other right? Do we imprison an old dogs for humping young dogs? Imprison sharks for killing? Imprison humans for killing other life on the same tree of evolutionary life we're on? Can science tell us slavery is wrong? In fact doesnt science say survival of the fittest helped us evolve? Seems science suggest they might be good things.

I love science like most others, but theres a place for a spiritual connection along with the moral standards it brings. Even barbaric Islam is better than a dog eat dog word where nothing could be condemned. There much good from religion, we just dont need all of its teachings these days. We as humans have searched for this spiritual link for pretty much as long as we know, part of our animal instinct seems to draw us too it.

One of my main objections to religion is that they are primarily ethnocentric religious based BS stories. If you could eliminate that and keep the teachings, even the loony ones, it would be more acceptable to me. It could even be possible that I might buy into the concept of a God, if he was universal. I'm not buying anyone's ethnocentric deity.

Thing is you'd find we in Asia are taught the same sort of values, ethics just as part of how we are raised. Why do the church and threat of hell stuff? That is very barbaric.

All humans are basically identical. Therefore it's only natural that we all share the same values no matter where we live.

    This is an absurd statement.

There is scientific evidence in support of global warming .. no such evidence exists for various religions.

Probably a mix of emotions and I do mean emotions. When we discuss religion we're not talking rationality here. That's not to say that religious belief is irrational, just that since it's a belief it's not about rationality or irrationality, it's about emotion.

Those emotions are probably fear and hope. As responses to questions which arise from a species ability to be self-aware then they're quite valid - as emotional responses. It's quite valid to quell the fear of death which is a few steps up the evolutionary mental development scale from the mere instincts to avoid danger and to survive. If humans hadn't developed a coping mechanism to deal with the knowledge and fear of death then we'd be stark raving bonkers as a species.....wait a minute.....

Disagree. Psychology (for example) is way into the human condition and provides better answers than religion.

Really? Are you sure about that. Because I would not so. But continue believing in your nonsense.

At least Global Warming even is not absolutely proved there are a lot of signs, evidences that show that this theory is probably true, and more when we know the effects of many gases that human send to the surface, that are produced in greater quantity than ever.

Religious belief is irrational. Is pure faith and to believe in religion you must eliminate your rationality.

And I agree with you that religion is pure emotional, is just that, there is any reason behind believing in the ghosts in the sky that religion describes, only faith, and faith is irrational. So irrational as believing that Gandalf is real.

No we used religion in lieu of science and actually in a very crude way religion was the first science. It was a way for our young species to look at the world and each other and say well maybe that happens because of this. But as time went on and we gathered better information and began asking better questions the mythological veil was lifted and gave way to science as we know it today. As you can easily see in the most advanced societies on the planet today we are far less religious and far more scientific then we were thousands of years ago and that trend will continue.

Can you tell me the honest difference between the middle east and America? Because it’s not a lack of religion.

I think if you watch this you may get a better understanding of my view on science and morality.
