Would you support torture in certain situations in prison

We will skip the "innocent" thing because that is an abstract concept that is very culturally dependent and go straight to the mental illness issue and come up to an add to "bad mad or sad" with frightened, misled or mistaken - think about it

You had no issues saying 'no', and I am pleased that you did.

However, what of the three that said 'yes'. If they are not ashamed of their choice, they should be prepared to stand up for their choice.

I never understand the desire of lack of transparency in such matters. My dad used to be so secretive about who he would vote for, even though we all knew he was voting Conservative. I don't get it. If one feels a party is worth voting for, why would they wish to be so cloak and dagger about it..

In principle everyone is against torture in the criminal justice system because obviously any confessions are tainted.

But in practise it can be difficult. Some years ago the son of a well known banker was kidnapped in Frankfurt Germany and the police threatened him as they believed that the child was alive and time was of the essence. Because of this the Commisioner had to retire and years later the conveicted child murderer got damages awarded to him for pain and sufferring.

If I was a policeman, I admit that I may be tempted.

Why?

Don't make a little display, and try to pass it off as 'trolling'.

You support torture, or could feel tempted.

Our police do not allow for it.

Therefore, when you say 'if you were a cop', I am glad you are not a cop, as you may break the law, and use it.

 

Usually it is not done because there are better and more reliable ways of getting information but the OP was not positing torture for the sake of inormation but torture for the sake of some kind of "revenge" on "bad people"

Torture mass murderers/serial killers? No, there's no need for it. It would only dredge up our own worst impulses. Better to simply kill them and be done with it.

 

if you murder 20 innocent children or 12 innocent people trying to watch a movie we shouldnt waste a single taxpayer PENNY to try to "help you" and your disabilities..... thats just a slap in the face to the victims' families

 

im not afraid. if you kill 12 people.... you should get a punishment that is equal. if you just get a little needle that doesnt hurt and you just drift to sleep, how is that equal? and why would anyone be scared of that? why are we protecting evil mass murderers anyways? they can eat (*)(*)(*)(*) and die for all i care

 

The point of execution isn't to punish the criminal at all. Society has found them unfit to be part of it anymore, so they are scheduled to be destroyed.

doesn't have to be up to me, they are treated with the same basic humanities that we expect all people to be equally treated with... so I don't even have to worry about things not being left up to me.
