My tooth started bithering me in August of 2012.I went to an urgent care facility and they prescribed antibiotics and the swelling and toothache went away. But when the antibiotics wore off the swelling and pain came back.Needless to say,I have an abscess now and I had to wait until I got dental to get it taken care of.I have just started my second round of antibiotics and the dentist said that he would probably pull the tooth when I came back for my appointment. If the abscess is still there,is it safe to pull the tooth?
It is always dangerous to long lasting diseases like this. Therefore you have taken up a right step to remove this teeth as it might spread infection in your mouth in upcoming days or may in year.
pulling is less expensive than a root canal, I'm no dentist but I surprised he isn't doing a root canal. the dangerous thing here is doing nothing, a tooth abscess can kill you if left untreated. once he pulls it he may prescribe antibiotics and may also pack the cavity with antibiotics as well. I had an abscess a couple of years back, half my face went numb and the abscess nearly into my sinuses, I had the root canal a 6hr procedure over two days, the first day was just drilling out the tooth and packing it overnight with anti-biotics...$900 because it was an emergence service...
IMO and based on my own research, the first course of treatment is with an antibiotic, then either pulling the tooth or giving another from of approved treatment for the problem. To my knowledge the normal course of treatment is to rid the tooth/surrounding tissue of infection prior to pulling it. Not treating an infection can ultimately lead to the infection spreading and finally result in death.

Your mandated Obama care insurance purchased through an exchange likely will cover pulling the tooth but not replacing it as most instance will only cover 1500.00 y after meeting your deductible and out of pocket. While an untreated access can lead to heart disease and even death, the PPACA didn't include dental care as in the minimum essential coverage, instead the wrongly opted to force everyone to pay for maternity and newborn care, two of the most costly benefits regardless if the individual or family needs it. Single men don't need it, menopausal women do t need it but all need dental care. We are forced to waste money on benefits we will never use that are the most costly and go without dental care. Paying thousands of dollars to replace a pulled tooth. Why did HHS force us to pay for maternity and newborn care? Because not the most costly benefit insurance wise and Ppaca/Obama promised insurance companies they wouldn't lose money covering those with high cost preexisting conditions and bearing the total cost of mamogr, ams and other preventative tests. So , we aren't,t receiving free tests and we are still paying for uninsureds seeking ER care and picking up the insurance Companies costs to see ensure high cost pre existing conditions AND on top of that subsidizing the cost of premiums for those qualifying for a government subsidy. The promise to lower the cost of health insurance was a lie and educated people in the heath care field knew that from the start. Unless you qualify for a subsidy or had a costly pre-exiting illness, Obama Care wouldn't save you money, lower your premium and due to the higher d deductibles will likely not pay for high cost treatments or surgeries. Rendering it virtually worthless for fairly healthy persons
