Military drills started today and NK has severed its hotline with the south. Do you think NK is getting more and more desperate and would risk attacking? Or will they just simple continue their useless saber rattling and become even further isolated?
Oh noes! They cut the hotline! NOT THE HOTLINE!!!!! They are nothing but attention whores. They should just drop they act already. When you start pissing off China that's when you should get the hint that everyone is sick of your bull@#$ already.
It has be saber rattling - they just dont have the offensive capability to even cross the border in any sort of force
This is mistaken thought.. But even before NK's 1.1 million man standing army crosses the border, with their long range artillery, rockets, and other offensive ground to ground capability quite capable of utterly destroying a huge proportion of SK's most populous areas and industrial infrastructure BEFORE the army marches! Further they maintain a large stockpile of biological and chemical weapons, which will cross the border quite fine, thank you. I read well over a decade ago that NK could unleash in the first HOUR of a conflict over a quarter of a MILLION rockets and artillery shells on the 40 miles nest tot he border (South Korea's population centers, capitol, and industrial centers). Tehse could, and certainly would contain chemical and biological agents of a wide variety of very nasty weapons.
The US should announce that the use of chemical or biological agents by the North Koreans will result in Pyongyang vanishing in a nuclear fireball. An attack should result in every square inch of North Korea being leveled from the air.
Make China deal with this mess. We should fly some stealth bombers over right now and drop DVD players on little parachutes by the thousands. Within each is full on facts about why they are dark each night while the rest of the civilized world has electricity. We should show how the rest of the world is living and then at the end have an episode of Baywatch. Each device will have a different episode. Let their problems become internal. - - - Updated - - - You would kill off people that are nothing more than slave serfs because they didn't overthrow their highly oppressive Orwellian dictatorship? Have some humanity.
When it comes to North Korea (and Iran), the time is rapidly coming to "**** or get off the pot"! There are more than 7 billion people in the world, and we'd better start focusing on the health and well-being of the vast majority of nations and their populations who won't tolerate living like servile dogs under a murderous, insane dictatorship. Take a lesson from Iraq, and Afghanistan... we go marching in, overthrow the tyrants, and the next thing you know we're on the hook for billions of dollars in "nation-building", propping up a client-government to do our bidding, with tens of thousands of soldiers necessary in-country to support the whole misguided mess. NO! Here I agree with current military doctrine which says, "Send in the ****ing drones!" LOTS of drones, armed with loads of really horrific, nasty weaponry to make the point that the Hitler's and Stalin's of the world went out of fashion over fifty years ago... without getting thousands of American soldiers killed!
They'll get across the border and cause a lot of damage. Their army is 1 million strong, but the South's is 1.24 million plus US contingents. Ultimately they'll be crushed like Iraq was in Desert Storm.
I have a feeling many North Korean troops would surrender once they were able to, and especially once they got a good glimpse of the firepower they'd be up against. China is going to let this play out as much as possible, probably to take attention away from their own imperialism in their area, but I doubt they'd be willing to let it go to full scale war. I wonder where Russia stands in all this?
Which immediately leaves the army controlled regime hanging out to dry. It is clear they will buy time with space, suck South Korean and US forces into their own kill zone. Once the main thrust of forces have been destroyed, come back over the border and unify the peninsular
Obama, through his wet panty scared foreign policy for 4 years, has given the green light to ever thug everywhere. We can't even defend a consulate against small arms. We are the weak horse ON A GOOD DAY. We are a lame horse the rest of the time. Thanks, Obama.
If I know our chicken-**** government, we'll be sending them tons of food, again, as usual, within six months.... And, in fairness, this has been true of RINO Republican as well as Liberal Socialist Democrat administrations.
The South Korean military could deal with the north by themselves. Imagine the outcome if a detachment of Type 59s came up against K1s. It would be carnage. The Kims are not foolish enough to start a war and get themselves toppled, they know who would win. And the South should see through the act and punish the North if they try any more 'Cheonan style' provocations.
The problem is the population is completely brain dead. No amount of 'dialogue' will ever work. The US will drop a few dozen 'Moabs' on top of the little pervert's head the instant the first missile is launched at SK. The 'generals' don't take a leak without permission from the pervert. Cut the snakes head off and the body dies.
The North Koreans will cause damage, but ultimately get crushed. Their only chance at survival is Chinese intervention like in the Korean War. No conventional army in the world can go toe to toe with the US. And the South Koreans have been trained and operating with us for 60 years.
