Senate votes 53-46 to stop US from joining UN Arms Trade Treaty

Commentary isn't my strong point so here is my basic opinion: Guns forever; control never. The right thing happened today and I couldn't be happier.

 

This is great news.

Showing the U.N. they have no control over U.S. laws.

 

Right. They should just control every one else's laws.

 

Naw. The U.N. needs to be disbanded. I have no desire for my tax dollars to fund an organization that doesn't benefit me or my country.

 

Does anyone not find this scary? It failed to pass by only 13 votes. Anyone have any doubts about the real reason the UN is so intent on disarming the entire civilian population in all the developed Western countries?

 

The purpose of the treaty is to regulate international arms sale. What does this have to do with UN controlling U.S. laws or violating second amendment rights?

 

It wouldn't have done anything to the US laws. This was another example of the Senate following the opinion of the least educated Fox News types and not reality. This is another example of the failure of our elected officials to actually live in the real world.

 

Their goal is 'one world govt.'....IMO, an impossible task even if they got the votes.
The harm caused would be incalculable, and could easily bring all the world back to the "Dark Ages" when the value of a human life was nil.

 

Lulz. The "purpose" of Obamacare was to lower healthcare costs while being revenue neutral...

(Implicit trust in big, authoritarian government is a fools game.....one progressives play at everyone else's peril.)

 

IMO. Just as when you "follow the money" to it's end in order to locate it's beginning....
If you follow the idea of the USA allowing the UN to dictate and regulate any sort of arms control that would checkmate the USA's right to self determination to it's logical end, you will find it's original intent is to dominate the free world by first disarmament, and then control of all aspects of the human condition.

FYI, that Arms Control Treaty and the 2nd amendment have no judical nor legislative ties or associations. Any notion that they do is legal nonsense.

We don't need the UN, kick them out and turn the building into a homeless shelter. Let them fund their own programs, they are not our friend and haven't been for some time. When Nigeria got on the human right committee I know for sure that this organizations time and come to leave.

I want my government to mind its own business and stop trying to control every disparate gun-runner and so-called "terrorist" in the world. Funny how you Obama supporters turn into Bush-III when you have the power. It was nothing more than another incremental grasp at total control. These internationalists are too smart to just come right out and say what their agenda is, so they use the power of legalese, minutia, and administrative FIAT to get their way instead. There may be nothing explicitly "about the 2nd Amendment or banning guns" in the UN proposal, however, that does NOT mean it cannot be construed in such a way by some creative (intellectually dishonest) government lawyer at some point in the future. The goal is to incrementally erode our rights, and they will use whatever subterfuge they can.

 

I am sure American troops being shot in Afghanistan with illegal weapons would agree with your position

Policing the world? What about the death of 3000 American who were killed by a group protected by the people the US and others are fighting in Afghanistan
