@ Jazz: It's cold and it snowed.
gabriel1: I'm Flemish and I'm interested in politics, I'm a member of a political party (N-VA) and once I stood on a regional election list. Besides that I just liked the nickname!

Flemish Politico, are you pro-EU? I'm of the opinion that Europe was better off (and cooler) without it. :D

Welcome to the forum. Here you will find divergent views from the U.S. and other countries. What do you consider yourself to be politically? More liberal or conservative and what (if any) do such labels mean in Belgium?

Durandal: I was pro EU but now with the economical mess I doubt. Still rather pro-EU and pro-Euro currency for the moment.

Durandal: I was 100% pro-EU but now with the economical mess I doubt but still pro-EU and pro-Euro currency for the moment.

RPA1: Difficult question to answer for me, I have sympathy for some conservative thoughts even when it's not very popular in Belgium but I consider free will as the most important value of our society so if I should have to answer I would choose liberal after all.

A word of advice about these site errors: If you get the alert with the options to stay on page or leave page after trying to submit a post, click stay on page. Then leave the posting page my other means, but DO NOT click submit again. Your post was already submitted after the first attempt, and by leaving that page by other means (or simply closing the tab/window, for that matter) you can avoid posting a duplicate.

:D Lovely forum, innit?

Pejoratively seen as conservative within Europe...

" The N-VA believes very strongly in the power of a community. We are a party that works to create a community, which is sometimes described as conservative in Europe, unfortunately quite regularly with a pejorative connotation. However, we believe that people need a community in which they feel at home, that takes care of them and that provides them with stability in a constantly changing world that can appear threatening to the economically, culturally and politically vulnerable individual. The N-VA is a party that attaches a great deal of importance to identity and to standards and values, rights and duties. But this position is also often considered to be conservative. But an identity is naturally made up of multiple layers, and standards and values must evolve with the changes in society if they are to stay relevant for both the individual and the community. For example, the N-VA has approved bills for gay marriage as well as for gay couples’ right to adopt. This is then often considered to be progressive. Words like “progressive” and “conservative” are therefore relative... "
