    Well now this river is running deep, in volume and actual substance. I really could care less if we disagree, because I know you are not the problem in this country. Your positions are well thought out, and rational.


    OK lets take a different approach here in a more specific realm. Now of course I am choosing a topic that suits the point I am attempting to make, another could be chosen that would show the opposite.

    Energy:

    I believe that the clear path forward for energy is energy efficiency.

    Please read this to understand my platform, and how the tax is written into law to guarantee it is paid out to each American citizen.

    See, this is the ideal problem solving technique for a problem that has proven over time it is not going to resolve itself. Government subsidization directly designed in a simple self checking system to be de-centralized in its nature. To me this is honoring the intent of avoiding centralized power as much as possible, while still facing the reality of our situation.


    So this is a pretty complicated idea here, and you really have to think this out.

    What private company would build part of a highway that went to no where?

    No one would drive the road until it connected somewhere, so you couldn't collect any toll for its use until a very large investment had already been made.

    I support speed rails in a very limited fashion, but I also believe that people with interests against these projects, subvert these efforts at every step.

    I believe there is one being built in California from like San Fansisco to LA(Something like that), which would make sense considering the volume of people, and the distance. It is failing ot get off the ground when other countries have already proven the concept. I don't think this happens on accident.



    Agreed, but I think we have to unrigg the system before we can play by these rules. The market is not in equalibrium, the advantages are already built in in so many ways, that we must identify those areas of corruption, and use temporary centralized power to remedy the wrong doing that originally occurred.

    I can't find any fault in this being the first attempt to solve a problem.

    My point is what stops laws that are already on the books from being changed?

    A minor tweak in language, that only a lawyer would catch, can change the legal interpretation of a law, and be snuck in anonymously in a amendment to a bill that has nothing to do with the regulation.

    The motivation to corrupt will always be there, as we can never remove the ability of our politicians to change laws, and I don't think any sane person would want that anyways.

    Once you accept that you can't remove the incentive to corrupt, only limit it through decentralization, then it becomes imparitive that you address the mechanisms that are used to corrupt our officials. Campaign financing and lobbying.

    First, the ideal to me is to always limit government.

    Where I don't think we are seeing eye to eye is the effect a growing population has on reality. In the days of the wild west a libertarian uptopia could exist. The people per square mile allowed this system to function. If you attempted to live by those laws in a city today, it would be anarchy. The city would eventually collapse.

    This is where I constantly go back to the reality of a specific situation, that changes my ideal view, to whatever view reality demanded of me to solve a problem.

    I don't see the private sector and government today as seperate entities, it is the evil alliance!

    To sum up my post here in continueing the conversation, I would like to get out of the generalities. let's discuss the specifics of the energy plan above, and the specifics of an alternative plan forward that would limit government intervention even further then this plan does.

    I think you mean if 'Anyone that [denies] our government is whole sale bought and paid for, explain why this bill hasn't already pass?'. Unless you're claiming that our government isn't bought & paid for, then I can explain why I believe the bill hasn't passed, and it would start with the government being bought & paid for.

    I agree 100% with you sir and feel the same exact way. The way I've always looked at libertarianism, we're not all going to agree with one another. I think that's the beauty of libertarianism as we all have our own thoughts and can collectively come together to solve complex issues. A centralized power can't solve the answers for all, that's why you will always need more voices at the table to determine a greater course of action. As such, we may very well disagree on somethings, let's see if we can find common ground and build from there, shall we?

In doing so, I will limit my response to your energy plan and privatizing roads. I will continue with privatizing roads here, I'll response to your energy plan on your thread, that you've started.

    As such, you stated they're one in the same, so we can still stay on topic and get into the specifics, as you like. If I skip over something you would like for me to address, please bring it up and I'll be glad to provide you with my stance. As I hope you can tell, I will give you my honest opinion.

    Aye, you definitely have to think very broadly on this, I think that's the point we're both trying to get at (If not you, at least I am). Again, I don't think you're seeing my whole point here. Let me put it into an example, from there, we can build & expand upon it.

    Let's say you and I construct as the government of the same island I described before. Since we know we're going to have businesses that need transportation routes, we decide we need some form of transportation. We bring the corporations to a meeting and discuss what transportation would be best for them. From there, we'll probably get a bunch of various ideas, but for simplicity sake, let's just say they need major roads & highways that can connect them across the entire island. As such, we can begin working with various construction companies to determine the best way to map out an intra-connected network of roads & highways. From there, we can get into the logistics of how much it will cost and the best way to place various roads & highways to make transportation more efficient.

    Then, corporations can begin building the roads and setup timelines to when things would be completed. Upon completion, they could potentially begin setting up tolls that various drivers would need to pay in order to drive on the roads. All of the funding comes from the private companies to establish the roads. When it comes to obtaining money for the roads, this is where the tolls come into play. Hopefully this explains my position a little bit better. For more insight, watch this approximately hour and a half video of Walter Block discussing how private roads would work. Right below it is a free PDF to his book on the same topic. It's a little over 400 pages, fairly extensive read. However, if you haven't seen/read either one of these, I think it could be a great eye opener to possibly a different view. Let me know what you think, if you decide to watch/read them.

    See this would work now to privatize the roads, my argument is in its construction.

    We are talking about 1,000's of miles of roads, that take years to construct. The investment in todays terms would be 425 billion dollars.

    What private parties are going to make a 425 billion dollar investment in a project that will take a decade to complete, and another two decades to collect enough tolls to be proffitable?

    It comes down to a risk vs reward equation. The time on the return on investment skyrockets the risk, on a huge investment. It just wasn't a good investment if the point was to make money, but the point of building the roads was to grow the general economy for all, to give people the economic freedom of opportunity, something that seems to be disappearing more everyday in this country as the evil alliance wraps its strangle hold on small and middle sized business's, and the middle class!

    It won't even get a hearing in the House. It's a core Republican doctrine that there should be no regulation of financial institutions.

    April 15th. The collapse begins with precious metals manipulated to cover the shorts the fat cats have created. 2 more weeks and it's done. I stand back and await the joy of the collapse.
