As a parent who wants to protect your child during the school year I would like to suggest downloading this wallet size card.

Please have a talk with your child explaining in detail the content and intent of the card then hug and kiss them. Place the card in your child's backpack, wallet, purse. I had my first wallet in 1st grade, Dad told me the purpose and how to operate it...lol.

Parents, as soon as you can schedule a meeting with the Teacher and Principle, bring a signed copy and have it placed in the official student file.

Document the meeting with names, dates and time and keep it in your file and do so yearly.

Also attend PTA meetings and ask questions. Show up to school and visit your son or daughter unannounced. Hope this helps all parents and students regardless of ideology, religion or color.

Sorry if I placed this in the wrong area of the forum.

What is the purpose for that garbage (the card to put in the wallet)? Didn't make any sense to me. What are you protecting your children from with it?

Now, I agree with attending PTA and asking questions.

Yep, it read like the garbage advice that lawyers give to guilty people.

Please answer the question. What was the purpose of that card? What are you protecting your children from with it? It sounds like you want to turn what should be school disciplinary issues into legal matters.

    lol...really?

So the parent pushes back with logic and it is garbage ? When a student is questioned, he or she simply says nothing, Student gives the staff the card and request the school contact the parent or guardian. It is the parent or guardian who has the better interest of the student not the school. Recent years have shown this.

It is sad, so is public education. Boys being kicked out for playing soldier using fingers as weapons. Girls being kicked out for having asthma meds. Normal stuff we all did as kids.

Also, I find it odd that you get offended that a student would exercise rights. Teacher?

Because the above is an example of turning children's activities into legal activities. A teacher should be able to question a child and get an answer. Minors do not have full civil rights. This has been upheld by SCOTUS decisions.

What you are advocating is turning "Johnny, who threw the pencil at Billy?" into a legal action involving parents and lawyers. That's the sort of garbage that makes it so children think they can get away with murder (figuratively thinking).

Now, I do agree that the fingers as gun suspensions is stupid, as well as the asthma meds suspension (provided they have a prescription). However, the medicine policies were brought about as a response to people like you who think your kids are always innocent (even when guilty as hell), and tried to defend them when having dangerous drugs. All you are advocating is a distancing between teachers/principals and the students, which just makes the schools worse places to be. You and the teachers need to be working together. Your goal is the same. To produce functional good people. The garbage you are spouting acts like the teacher is the enemy. Completely amoral, which led to the policies you despise.

I'm not a teacher, but I once was. I care about this country, and the kind of garbage you are advocating is counter-productive. You should homeschool your kids if you feel that way.

The US pubic school system is a petre dish for criminal activity and no accountability by the schools. After all, they have their own clown courts and subculture of laws as well as their own police force.

If you realy want to protect your child, and accountability, send them to private school. Sure it will cost, but in the end if you are realy involved in your kid's edumacation, they will succeed, and will be better off than going to broke down US pubic school.
