The only way to evaluate the success of a home school kid is what happens after they turn 18 years old.
Anyone can get home schooled and pass a test. But the real test is what happens to the kid. Will they get a good job? Will they spend 10 or 20 years in the military?, will they start a bidness? Will they end up on drugs and in jail? Will they have debt and be stuck in a generation for life?

Who knows... anyone of these can be a success. It all depends on the individual. You can't determine success with just one outcome, such as going to college. After all , anyone can go to college, by just paying the money. It is what happens during the persons' life that matters.

A soldier who was mamed in combat as an infantry Sgt and is helping his comrads in arms, is just as successfull as a MD who finished top in her class. You can't compare success by the education, but only by the outcome.

Home schooling is tantamount to child abuse and should be illegal.

Sometimes the last resort is home school.

Sending a kid to USA pubic school can also be conidered a form of crule and unusual punishment. Sex abuse also happens a lot more in public school because it attracts a lot of pedophiles much like religious organizations. Also, school employees in the USA fall under the subculture laws of the education system and they go to the school's clown court with the outcome of "Pending invenstigation" and that is the last you hear about it. So what happens in public school can also happen at the home school. But the home school falls under criminal law.
