“I will chain my body to it and protest if they try to reopen it,” Erica Lafferty, the daughter of slain Sandy Hook Principal Dawn Hochsprung said ... as school officials consider the future of Sandy Hook Elementary School ...

Newtown task force meeting to decide future of Sandy Hook school

The emotionally charged question of whether to reopen the Sandy Hook Elementary School building, where 20 first-graders and six staffers were massacred, could be settled Friday night.

A task force of more than two dozen officials is meeting to discuss and possibly vote on two options: raze the existing Newtown, Conn., building and open a new school down the street, or renovate or rebuild on the existing site.

Some victims' families are horrified at the thought of children returning to the campus where Adam Lanza spilled so much blood during his Dec. 14 rampage.

    “It should be knocked down.
There should be some type of long-lasting memorial.“ ... says Lafferty, who now goes up against Ayotte and other winggunnut conservative agendas to continue to arm the same people who massacres innocents as thier 2nd Amendment Rights.

The task force will make recommendations to the local school board. The vote could happen Friday or next week.

Veronique Pozner, whose son Noah was killed, said she's been back to the school, so she could see where he died, but now considers it "tainted ground.'

“Then again, I also know life has to go on. If that’s the best site logically, economically for the other children, the ones that are alive ... who am I to say you shouldn’t build there?” she said.

Sandy Hook students who survived the shooting have been going to class in a repurposed school building in the neighboring town of Monroe.
The task force considered 40 locations for a new school before narrowing the choices to the current site or the one down the street.

    There's precedent for both paths.

Columbine High School in Colorado demolished the library where most of the 12 victims of a 1999 shooting died, but reopened the rest of the facility within months.

At California's Oikos University, where seven were killed in 2012, the classroom in question is now used only for theology classes.

Virginia Tech, where 32 died in 2007, turned one of the classrooms into a violence prevention center.

The West Nickel Mines Amish School in Pennsylvania, where five girls were shot dead in 2006, was torn down.

Erica Lafferty, whose mother was the principal of Sandy Hook Elementary, thinks the school building should be torn down.

Judging by recent political events, how about re-opening it as a private firing range?

School shooters are like terrorists. If you close everything down, give it worldwide media attention, condemn it as the #1 act of evil since Satan and spend several months having millions upon millions of people mourning it, the bastards have won. They got their attention, and most of all, their recognition.

Close the school, and every psychologically messed up prick with a chip on their shoulder will know that their acts of violence will be relevant.

Pure curiosity, why do you think people shoot up schools?

Honestly, I really don't know. At first Lanzas mom was reported as a teacher there, and everyone in the media was like, see I told you there would be a connection, but there really wasn't. Perhaps schools is where the kids are made crazy and they want to kill where the pain came from?

Oh the horror, children actually learning how to use and respect guns for the tools they are in a controlled environment! Your liberal bastions like Chicago and Detroit could benefit greatly from similar programs, gangbangers might actually hit their targeted gangbangers instead of innocent kids... Oh wait, in the liberal world only large numbers of white kids who can be easily exploited count for pushing your agenda, lest you'd have to address the reasons why cities like Chicago and Detroit are actually the way they are...

As to the school, it should be up to the town, but viewing the cost of building a new school I have a feeling it will remain open...

Exactly. Kill where the pain comes from. Don't you think the shooter wants that school closed?

They feel entitled to kill children?

I would suggest it doesn't matter what the shooter wants. No, I doubt Lanza hoped for a school closing.

They feel entitled to others things... life holds little value. We breed sociopaths by focusing on self interest.

I do not believe for a moment you understand the EFFECT of entitlement. Lanza was one result.

How does this feeling of entitlement apply to others' lives? And if the shooter acts in self-interest, why do they then kill themselves? That last part usually hurts them quite a bit.

The real question is have these clown teachers been getting paid to NOT show up to work? What are they doing and where is my taxpayer refund? Are you telling me that this school wasn't opened within three days? Get over it. People die every day. Why discriminate against people who die from "everyday violence" versus liberal propaganda?

This one was particularly nefarious ... Nancy & Adam Lanza were certified at NRA shooting schools ... then Adam Lanza shoots his mom in the face then executed women & children with symbols of Tea Party Liberty & Freedom ... the best assault weapons entitled mentally-ill people could by ....

What to do with the Sandy Hook School?

Easy. Seize the property of the people who oppose re-opening it and use the proceeds to construct a new school. Stupidity should carry a high price.

They do seem to keep open those facilities where the mass murders were committed by immigrants.

Because they know there's no guns there.

Because they figure Dr. Gosnell doesn't go far enough.

Because they're a typical left-winger and want to feel BIG!

Tell Erica to pony up $18 million for a new school and to pay for the old one or (*)(*)(*)(*) about what she wants.
