Yes. Its cause you dont understand what the war on drugs is. You only want your drugs. If you got a job, and quit living off the rest of us, perhaps tax rates could come down.

The lack of adequate taxes is a problem to society in general, because the existence of McDs causes problems that government has to monitor and uses massive amounts of the common resources. That the sick bastard who runs the company thinks he is worth more than he actually is and tries to take the difference out of the paychecks of the people laboring to make him rich impoverishes whole communities.

you assume too much about other people. This is part of why right wingers are worth so little in a crisis.

I do not support Prohibition of Alcohol or other drugs even though I do neither... but when younger have done both.

...it's just common sense, prohibition creates crime, creates gangs

nope, prohibition reduces the number of drug addicts laying on the streets, unemployed collecting welfare.

The war on drugs costs America almost nothing. The whole idea is simply to use military assests not currently on deployment to bolster the efforts of law enforcement.

Those ships and helicopters are already paid for. Those sailors and airmen who pilot those vessels are already paid for. Even if they were sitting on their butts doing nothing they still collect a paycheck, why not make em work for it?

I understand quite well that the only delegated social Power to Prohibit forms of Commerce among the several States was repealed with the Twenty-First Amendment. Only the right seems to prefer drug tests to morals tests in modern times. Is it a coincidence or a potentially, for-profit conspiracy?

your statement has been proven false in our own history as well as others

"5 Years After: Portugal's Drug Decriminalization Policy Shows Positive Results" April 7, 2009

    http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=portugal-drug-decriminalization

ending prohibition is the way to go...

when society thinks illegal equals bad and then finds that illegal doesn't always equal bad, it sends a mixed message to our youth, one that says it's ok to break the law because the law is just trying to prevent you from having a good time - same problem with prohibition of Alcohol that is happening with with young adults now, take away the right to go to bars and they went to houses to party and if your gonna break the law to drink, why not break it to do any drug, making it illegal for young adults to drink made alcohol a gateway drug - prohibition makes criminals of non-criminals

"Ten Years After Decriminalization, Drug Abuse Down by Half in Portugal"

    http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkai...lization-drug-abuse-down-by-half-in-portugal/

remember, the abuse is there legal or not, just one makes criminals of those that did not abuse

prohibition will end and you will just have to deal with it - we do not need a nanny government

we had the same results with prohibition of alcohol here as Portugal, deny the facts all you want if it makes you feel better

has the rights war on drugs even reduced drug use in all this time? fact is the war on drugs harms more people then the drugs ever could

The abomination of hypocrisy is worse than Any drug addiction known to Man; but, only the right prefers drug tests to morals tests.

I have a job, so not sure who you think your talking too, you may need the government to run your life for you, the rest of us don't

as far as addicts, they exist legal or not, your drug war is just making criminals of those that are not addicts

The taxes would be more than adequate if the wild overspending was halted.

Compare the prosperous 1990's with now, even with the drop the government is getting much more revenue. We are truly TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY!

lolz at people trying to demand that part time jobs be forced into career level pay.

I referree during the winter.... it's good part time money. However, had I chosen to (*)(*)(*)(*) away my opportunities with real career training and education, I couldn't "demand" that I should be paid more money in a job that wasn't designed to be a career

I believe an institutional, denial and disparagement to Individual Liberty regarding employment at will has more to do with this issue; but the right prefers drug tests to morals tests in modern times.

You seem to be missing the point about a natural rate of unemployment engendered by capitalism; it would even affect some people, even in an economy where everyone has a doctorate.

    - - - Updated - - -

The point is that capitalism has no solution to a natural rate of unemployment; it may be one reason why socialism was "invented".

I understand natural rate of unemployment.... a fast food worker thinking he commands a Bachelor's level pay for doing something an 18 y.o. highschool dropout can do is what I have issues with.

Personally, I'm glad there are people who screwed up in highschool and afterwards.... the world NEEDS ditchdiggers, too.

How does your line of reasoning work with corporate downsizing?

Why don't some people understand, not EVERYONE deserves to have a degree or is qualified to do a job that requires one. Otherwise, who will do all the work that doesn't require any real training? Robots can't do all the menial jobs.....yet. You need bodies to do all those jobs that require little skills and since there aren't enough teenagers willing to do them, someone has to fill in. Sorry, but highly intelligent and skilled people with useful degrees are not flipping burgers in any measurable numbers, and certainly not for very long if they had to. EVERYONE I know who has lost a job over the past few years has found a new one within months, because they are all skilled, talented, responsible people. I can't vouch for those who are unable to find anything. Maybe its not the job market and its more about poor personal choices or inadequacies? Nah...personal responsibility to blame for one's lack of a career is just so lame=) Have to blame someone else...if you're liberal.

I'm not talking about a few 1000 people in a factory when it closed up shop. That's a FAR different situation.

Your special pleading is telling. How do you account for structural forms of unemployment and that contribution to any natural rate of unemployment?

Even firms can fail; and, some firms have qualified for corporate welfare as a privilege and immunity for those artificial persons of wealth.

If, even a Firm can fail through "poor life choices", why should anyone believe poverty is an Individual problem and not an Institutional one in our republic where only the wealthiest qualify for multimillion dollar corporate welfare bonuses?

Yeah, but my point is that if you are making $10,000 an hour off the backs of these people, wouldn't you think they would be worth more than a wage that wouldn't possible allow them to support a family?

It is the individuals responsibility to provide a future for himself.... not a distance corporation. If you arent happy with the wages that Mcdonalds offers, dont work their. If enough people are like minded, mcdonalds will have to raise its wages to get workers. It is a good way to determine how many people agree with your thinking and mindset.

If you can list a company that makes $10,000 an hour off each minimum wage employee, I'll completely agree that those employees should be paid more.

What I expect is that you are talking about companies that make $10,000 an hour off 30,000 employees. In those companies that profit would disappear very quickly if those wages were raised. Just a 33 cent raise would completely eliminate the profit in a company like that. A $1 raise would bankrupt the company.
