I cancelled my Commonwealth bank accounts, I've changed to another phone carrier and Qantas is the worse airline I've flown,,, all since their privatisation.

You don't recall his name or, presumably, who he worked for. Not a private hospital by any chance?

In NZ a conservative government privatised the railways. The new owners, Toll, ignored necessary maintenance until the tracks started falling apart. Eventually the state had to buy it back.

Privatisation is all about profit. Profit means higher charges and reduced services.

Get rid of bureaucrats in a hospital and you start losing records. Eventually, you begin losing patients.

I didn`t say to get rid of ALL the bureaucrats, just the surplus ones, of which there are many. Speaking of necessary maintainance, hospitals here have had paint peeling off the walls for years now. The efforts by hospital staff to carry on despite chronic shortages of basic necessities, is nothing short of heroic, but if funds wern`t being gobbled up by unnecessary bureacracy, the system be improved.

Unfortunately when you put the bureaucrats in charge of the cut backs....................well it is the old fox in charge of the hen house problem isn't it? You are NEVER going to get fewer foxes that way. And tell me about the peeling paint!! We have huge holes in the walls and leaky plumbing as well

I, like all people of good intent, absolutely do NOT condone bureaucrats controling anything, but their functions. Never have, never will, never could.
