Well golly jee, thank you so much for enlightening me about what the Bible says about public prayer...Especially the parts that you where so nice to put in bold print for me, you know, verses 1 through 4, the verses that are talking about GIVING / CHARITY, and have absolutely nothing / null / zero to do with the topic at hand which is public prayer. Matthew 6 : 1-4...Giving to the Needy 1Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven. 2So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. 3But when you give to the needy, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, 4so that your giving may be in secret. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you. Maybe before you start quoting Bible verses to try to embarass Christians, maybe you should try to comprehend them and stop embarrasing yourself.
Does it say support or establish? It is not the support clause, it's the establishment clause. What religion was established by the state when a kid prays during his graduation speech?
My apologies, I meant to highlight verse 5 as as well. The theme here is that you should not do things for show so that you can brag about being a good person. Giving alms and praying are 2 examples seem here in Matthew 6.
By sponsoring one religion over another, the government is making that religion the official one, even if they do not pass it by law. The same people who support christian prayers as part of public events condemn any attempt to do the same with other religions.
