Well... except confirming everything he has been saying that you have been denying is true... and the scope of the GCHQ's collection... and the dubious nature of the law with cooperative intelligence gathering on each other... and the president is lying. Some highlights...

But things are much worse on the GCHQ side...

Less than 5% of GCHQ accesses to PRISM are audited. That's coming as well. You need to google AUSCANNZUKUS.

Did you note the 5 eyes comment in the quotes above? I have mentioned that before.

Millions of people have access to everything, without oversight, in several countries... about a million in the US alone... left to the honor system.

Let me know when you have real evidence of systemic abuse by the NSA. Nothing you said here is significant.

Be careful of what y'all say. If you complain about your government you will be no the terrorist list. See how this crap works. They can say anybody is a terrorist for even complaining about poor water quality. Obushma's Grand View of the America where if you speak up your a terrorist.

Naw, you can still talk about poor water quality. Some Republican representative from Tennessee making this claim is not proof that they care about any of your water quality complaints, lol. You guys are so paranoid it's hilarious!

There is only one person responsible for the paranoia. The one making the Orwellian America. People don't trust him because of his repeated lying to us.

I have a few things I would like to say:
    A. Snowden is a really cool name. It sounds like something out of an action movie. Why have we not heard more commentary on this, at least on comedic shows like Wait Wait Don't Tell Me?
    B. I think that Hong Kong should wait to make a decision until more details on what the NSA spying accomplished. If it is really as beneficial as the officials say, and the public knowing about it makes a difference, then Snowden should be extradited. Otherwise, he should be left alone.
    C. I also believe that China's government would not allow Snowden to be extradited, but not because he cares about “basic liberties for people around the world”. They would protect him in order to spite the American government.

But what if the classified information is unconstitutional? What you are suggesting is to give the government free reign to do what ever they want, as long as it is "classified".

He needs to get his butt into China and ask for political asylum. If the US insists on extradition then he should insist all classified information be released to the Chinese government for review as part of the process before that is even considered. After all to be fair he is not charged with directly aiding an international criminal group or terrorist network but releasing privileged information on a program which would to many violate our constitution. But they would need to see that the big picture is to make a fair decision.

I don't see them making us happy and handing him over without charges that would count to the Chinese as breaching international law and no one is saying he is a terrorist are they, the charges are not terrorism related just breaching security of a program.

Snowden has now been allowed to leave Hong Kong for a country which can grant asylum to him.

I would opt for an island nation, which would be harder to infiltrate than a country with borders, and Cuba is a lot nicer than Iceland, and unlikely to cave in to US pressure, especially after 50 years of a ridiculous embargo.
It's good to see that Snowden has support from many people around the world who are upset about his persecution for merely embarrassing the government with an inconvenient truth.
It's even better to see that his actions have spurred a more open debate about the balance between privacy and security that governments and corporations have adopted without enough oversight and controls by the people it affects.

I view Snowden as a selfish little man, who rather than truly having the interest of the American people in mind with his disclosure, is seeking his life's fifteen minutes of fame. Zero respect from me.

He certainly could have gone about this in a more appropriate manner, and perhaps have been protected from criminal repercussions for his disclosure. At the very least, he could have taken his story to American media, instead of fleeing the country like a coward.

The guy is no hero in my opinion, but a selfish cowardly little weasel, who quite frankly, doesn't appear all that intelligent.

Just to add... I would likely have had respect for him/his actions, if he had the balls to stand in the face of adversity, rather than slinking away in the night.

**Meaning no personal disrespect to those of you with a different opinion**

Maybe, time will tell what his true intent was. As far as his actions......never had a Country come after me so I can not say what actions I would take.

My question earlier was did he plan it or was it impulse. Either way he owns his actions. I will wait to see how it pans out.

He had a route he could take. He could have gone to the NSA Inspector General. At least give them a chance to review it. He wasn't even at NSA long enough to go through that process. He immediately stole as much as he could and defected. Hell, he could have given the information to Rand Paul who could have brought up the issue with the Senate Intelligence Committee and if he didn't get satisfaction, the well of the Senate/

    - - - Updated - - -

His true intentions? He stole classified information, released it to a foreign newspaper, defected, told the Chinese about US intelligence efforts against China, then fled to Moscow, where I'm sure he has a lot tell them.

I think treason is a pretty good guess as to his intentions.

Big surprise according to Yahoo! news Snowden left Hong Kong legally for another nation possible Cuba or Russia and they said the request didn't meet their guidelines under law for them to act. Good luck getting him he did nothing under international law that would be considered criminal under any of our UN treaties. Without a "he directly aided Al Queda in attacks with serious evidence" good luck. At most he made his own nation more vulnerable to an attack due to a release of conscience of sensitive information not exactly a "crime" according to UN precedent as a crime nations are generally expected to act on.
