I am relatively new to the site and probably should start in a more serious manner; however, my brain is demanding I provide an answer.

Monday night I had to put my burger down with a sigh, as a phone call I had been awaiting came while consuming said burger.

 

Every time I go to McDonalds and the person who took my order, who can't speak English and they never can gets the order right.

That's why I try to stick to In n' Out when I want a burger. Everyone speaks English, they always get the order right and a Double Double is ten times better than a Big Mac.

 

Actually it wasn't a myth.

The liberal, I forget his name who claimed it was a myth said he saw no one ever spitting upon returning soldiers from Vietnam. He made his observations at Travis AFB where most returning Vietnam vets arrived in the CONUS.

There was only one problem, Travis is a military installation and there were few if any radical leftist allowed on the base.

Most of the incidents where political leftist who either spat upon, towards or made derogatory comments towards those wearing the uniform happened at SFO, not Travis.

It did happen. And those who did it weren't really liberals back then but those of the "New Left," Marxist who broke away from Communist Party USA. They were never really against the Vietnam War but against the United States winning the war in Vietnam. Those who were part of the New Left back then, today hide behind the labels of liberal or progressive. They gained control of the Democrat Party during the late 1970's.

 

When the New Left broke up in 1973, many became college professors while many hid behind the label of calling themselves liberals and ran for political office under the Democrat Party.
This is when many of the true liberals of the Democrat Party started to leave the Democrat Party. They would become known as neo-conservatives and many came under the GOP tent.

I have heard such claims about VN veterans, but I have never seen them mistreated....

 

How old are you ?

After my tour of duty I couldn't let my peers know that I did a tour in Vietnam and that I served.
If you wanted to get laid during the late 60's or early 70's by some girl, you sure didn't mention you were a Marine
My brother's wife didn't learn that my brother (served 69-71 USMC) until five years after they were married.
By 1969 those serving in the military didn't go off base on liberty/leave in America wearing the uniform until Reagan became POTUS.

Basically the left became anti U.S. military back during the 1970's just like they are doing today under the Obama administration. The left believes that the purpose of the U.S. military is not for national defense and killing those who want to kill Americans but for liberal social engineering experimentation.

Have you ever wonder why most serving in the military are conservative and why only 3 % of the Officers Corps identify as being liberals ?
Maybe because it was a Democrat Party who sent almost 3 million Americans too a war in Vietnam and then backstabbed them while they were still on the battlefields of Vietnam.
