Well yeah, those two entities don't actually have to follow any rules... :)

Practicality rarely factors into the beliefs of the right-wingers. If you’ve read posts by the conservatives and neoconservatives you will have noticed they advocate the right of Big Business and the one percent to pay “slave wages” to all employees.

Workers’ demands for higher pay is pure greed according to the right-wingers. It also denies the debt of gratitude working Americans owe the job creators for permitting them to have a job, let alone a job that pays.

Min wage, even welfare puts those people in at least the top 20% of the worlds population. 80% of the worlds people live on less than $10/ day.

What a dream world you are living in!

If a minimum-wage worker could "always quit and get a $45hr job" he would always do it!!

    Do the logic!

The cost would be much higher in the U.S.

$90.00 wouldn't begin to pay for transportation, profit margin, etc.

Within a small area of India someone could be taken slave and sold immediately to someone in a nearby town for a cost that brings the average way down.

Why do you worship "the market?"

Thanks, but I believe some of them aren't beyond hope.

On a personal level, working face-to-face, I have converted many people who thought they were conservatives.

Clearly, we should enslave minimum wage workers so we can pay them more.

    Thomas Sowell isn't God.

He isn't even a reliable source.

Conservatives like him for being a black academic who supports their policies.

Generally speaking, conservatives hate both blacks and academics, so Sowell is a two-fer of deniability for them.

I think the higher costs you see in the US are due to the increased risk involved and added transportation. If it were actually reinstated, which it obviously will never be, the cost would be much lower than $20,000, its a globalized world with millions and millions of people that wouldn't blink an eye to get rid of mouth they can't afford to feed...

He isn't, but what he is, is substantive. He has something only life experience can offer.

Name one argument you know better than he does, I dare you.

I like him because he made the round trip to Conservatism. It wasn't an argument that persuaded him, Milton f*cking Friedman, who he studied under, couldn't budge him from being a Marxist. No, instead it was personal experience while working for the Government.

He knows all the left's arguments, he lived them and he preached for them, until he found them wanting.

Ah, but that's the thing about Sowell: he's the whistleblower. The "one of them" trying to keep the rest of the academic class honest. He echos Hayek in saying Economics is not a known quantity, and likely never will be, not completely. But this fact hasn't stopped people filled with hubris or political rhetoric, to try and force others to accept their ideas based what they tout as merit, in lieu of evidence.

And whenever there has been a Lib or Socialist doing just that, he's been there to catch them.

Yet here you are unable to contradict his points. Just more of the tired insults we get to hear from you On a daily basis. What makes it funny though is your arguments are usually 100% backwards.

I read yours when I want to feel good about being a conservative.

Yes, I read them often. Majority of the posts are "Anti-..." when it isn't relevant to the topic at all. So in turn when it is mentioned it is crap.

It doesn't matter, no matter what you pay people they are going to fight and ask for more. Give a mouse a cookie syndrome.

It's just a shame that every time a law messes with the free market it causes problems somewhere else.

I have three general warehouse guys that are lead by my manager. All three chose more pay and a few less hours without health care.

As of Jan 1st with their decision in mind, they now each make about 13.40 per hour.

If you force me to pay them more, I promise I WILL fire one of them and simply expect more out of the other two.

Creating laws against the market has consequences

what you said made no sense. I just informed you how having choices was a benefit to me. And you come up with that? Do you worship government?

I won't spend half-an-hour doing the research to answer your question.

He's said many things over the years that I've known to be false.

    He's not well-respected in the fact-based community.

And he supports policies that give all gains to people who are already wealthy. There is no disputing that at all!!

Your comments suggested worship of the "invisible hand of the market," which has been shown to be wrong over and over again.

Ever hear of the Great Depression?

Yes he does. And anyone who disagrees with him is irrational, illogical, or just plain not smart. He is the smartest man to ever live and worships the government.

    Stop lying.

    I don't worship the government.

I have proof for my comments and expect proof for opposing viewpoints.

    Is that unreasonable?

I'm asking for one, and you can't do that just off the top off your head? Why the f*ck should I believe you then?
