No, kids should not be subjected to that stuff. Yes, it should be legal. Parents need to be aware of what their kids are collecting from complete strangers. It's their responsibility to take this propaganda, read it themselves for shats and giggles, and then use as fire starters.

Doesn't matter which religion. He said "according to the Bible." That's what it says in the Bible, regardless of what religion is lying about it saying something else.

Old or New Testament? Which version? Etc... That is why it matters.

Fair enough about being legal but a dick thing to do. Give out candy or put up a sign that says take one over an empty bowl. It is trick or treat, not soapbox time. Still this is just a few people and is mostly mountain out of mole hill kind of stuff.

Maybe not ban witches but you ban Halloween altogether pretty often, plus many of your cities are too dangerous to walk at night. Crack zombies really do exist there. Can't say that about republican districts.

In my opinion---you can't scare yourself into believing. Bringing Christ in your life is much deeper than that. . Christians are scared for people they love---that choose to ignore the truth. But you don't bring people to Christ through fear.

I've had many people in my family worried about my soul, but it just seems so silly to me. Why can't they love me for who I am now instead of some place they believe I'll go to when I die?

agreed, and personally I think this nonsense by fanatics doesn't help spread their "word"... it just makes it seem like a fear based belief

Democrats don't cater to religious types. This is a good thing, because religion is dying.

Oh they try to pander to them, Michael Moore is trying now. There is no one the left wont dance for. But yeah, it goes over poorly:

"Should this kind of thing even be legal?"

    Taxcutter asks:
    You mean free speech?

I think it's silly what those people are doing by dropping literature like that in children's candy bags, but I see no reason at all that it should be illegal.

Though as someone else pointed out, if an atheist tried this, you'd be able to hear the uproar on the moon.

How does this video demonstrate any kind of pandering to religion? If anything, it shows that the Democrats are trying to divorce themselves from religion. I don't blame them.

The most interesting part of that video is the conspiracy theory proposed at the very end (Obama being behind the vote).

I'm disappointed in you Jeff, these people doing this are religiously inclined, it has nothing to do with politics.

The party tries, but so many democrats hate the religious people who vote for them anyway it is funny to see the two collide.

Not sure I was replying to you, but I meant "you" as in "the left" who banne Halloween because of too many shoot outs.

You disagree that evangelicals are also known as the Republican base, or that handing-out these tracts to children can be described as "terrorizing?"

If we start outlawing everything that could potentially frighten a child, what kind of a world would we be left with?

Wasn't the reason Romney lost badly was due to

    1. The growing number of youth and minority voters going Democratic.

    2. The Republicans staunch refusal to abandon very illogical and unpopular views like opposing same-sex marriage and -with some state parties- actually making homosexuality illegal.

    3. Romney being viewed as a capitalist elitist who is completely out of touch with the working middle class and the poor; which is emphasized with the infamous 47% video.

    4. The deep infighting of the Republican Party between the establishment and Tea Party activists.

    FREE SPEECH?

Some people seem to be saying that using stealth tactics to proselytize their neighbors' children is okay.

And that there is nothing wrong with using dishonest tactics to scare the heck out of other people's kids.

I'm assuming that those who think it's okay haven't studied psychology and don't know the traumatic effects that can result from telling impressionable minds that they and their friends and relatives will burn in hell for eternity if they don't belong to a certain religious group.

Freedom of speech doesn't extend to tricking children into reading pornography and it shouldn't extend to disseminating these filthy, hateful booklets into the hands of unsuspecting minors.

No need to go binary. This is in a different class than spiders and snakes. It's dishonestly attempting to force one's religion on other people's kids, and possibly traumatizing them in the process.

Right, but that's not illegal, and especially not since the children came knocking on their door. I mean, I think these people are nuts, but I don't think that what they did here is something that should be illegal. It's honestly the parents job to be the filter for things like this and to decide what's appropriate and what isn't.

It's not the literature that's scarier, it's the conservatives. The way they sit around at Halloween parties and look at one another is pretty scary. I guess you're right. They do throw better parties.

I would remind you that these children knock on your door and ask for one of two things. So what if they get the trick?
