Limited government. That guy is a spendocrat now if you listen to how he feels about all these programs.

How so? The GOP has all the economic plans people want. The Democrats have what? Class warfare and more taxes? What is it the Democrats offer except envy, populism and hatred?

So what is he trying to win? He is not running for election. He is concerned about his party. But his warnings are being ignored. The best the GOP can do is attack and deny.

Right. The problem is the extreme right-wingers are so loud and in such large numbers right now that the republican candidates have to lie and act like they are way further right than they are over fear they won't win the nomination. The 2012 republican primaries were a complete joke. I thought losing would wake the republicans up, but that hasn't happened. In fact, they've become more bitter and further right. Not good.

Look at Virginia as an example. You have a far right GOP candidate for Governor who is losing to a weak Democrat. And yet the call from the GOP is we are not far enough to the right. It is totally insane, but the Dems hope they continue their denials.

The term "you" in the following is not referring to the personal "you" (not you the poster), but the hypothetical "you" referring to a politician.

If you don't win the election, your beliefs/principles mean nothing politically. If you don't win the election, you cannot govern. If you don't win the election, you're just outside noise. If you don't win the election because of your beliefs/principles, why be a politician?

You can still have your beliefs/principles and still win the election. The way to do that is to not try and impose your beliefs/principles on others. Let those beliefs/principles guide your actions, but do not condemn others that disagree with the actions you take in support of your beliefs/principles. There are likely many that agree with your beliefs, but not the way you impose them on others. There are likely many that hold the same principles as you, but disagree with your inability to allow for others to have a different view.

You can still get elected, if your not a hateful, unwielding authoritarian single-minded @$$.
