Chemical weapons don't stand up too well to fireballs.

The dispersal systems for chemical weapons are designed for dispersal at pre-determined height. Being consumed in a fireball at ground level will not result in them be dispersed.

If the weapons are in a hardened bunker, that's even worse for the possibility of them being dispersed. We could use a JDAM and destroy the inside of the bunker which would only leave a very small hole in the roof for the chemical weapons to be dispersed through. Most chemical weapons being heavier than air, they aren't going to defy gravity and fly out.

You do understand that the explosives in things like chemical rockets and artillery shells are specifically designed for that purpose and that they aren't saying that any explosion from any source will disperse chemicals, yes?

 

You are making the assumption that the military knows exactly where these weapons are. They knew exactly where they were in Iraq too. Lets not learn from experience or anything sensible like that and just start dropping bombs on random buildings because suspicious trucks were parked outside them etc.

The Syrians are simply not going to be putting all these weapons outside in a pile with a bulls eye painted around it. They will have them very well hidden, and it is very possible, in residential areas. The whole human shield idea which we saw again in Iraq seems to be a common approach in that part of the world.

If you could get a direct hit on a canister of chemicals with just the right weapon then maybe you can destroy it. But again, that weapon is not going to be sitting there in plain site. You may certainly hit the building it is in but you aren't likely to hit it directly.

The military does not have some sort of anti-chemical super bomb like you assert. There are special weapons for that sort of work, but they are far from perfect.

The US gets less oil from Iraq now than they did from Saddam immediately prior to the invasion and, the bulk of oil concessions went to non US interests and Russian, Chinese, French interests who, were not in favor of the invasion BTW.
