I have read a lot of "War on Women" posts from Democrats and a lot of "So what's" from women supporting Republicans and it concerns me this notion of being a voting block. People are targeting us as a group because there is this notion that women have two schools of thought and to pander to one of them means you can count on 50% of voting women for your team.

They've broken us down into two groups: Working women who are Pro-Choice and Housewives who are Pro-Life, regardless of whether this is limiting, and neglectful of ambiguity. This shows me a fierce contempt for women from both parties. First, they believe we are stupid enough to buy into labels, and second, that we can be led through fear.

I want to be seen, not as a woman, but as an individual by the government. My rights as a free person and individual are all that I ask for. Let my community and loved ones see me as a woman.

I'm curious, though, about others. What do you guys want? How do you feel about this subject, are you okay with it and why?

Lastly, I'll leave this and it pretty much explains my feelings:

“The most basic principle to being a free American is the notion that we as individuals are responsible for our own lives and decisions. We do not have the right to rob our neighbors to make up for our mistakes, neither does our neighbor have any right to tell us how to live, so long as we aren’t infringing on their rights. Freedom to make bad decisions is inherent in the freedom to make good ones. If we are only free to make good decisions, we are not really free.”

Some women think with their vagina. They filter things through how they feel. If decisions are based solely on "feelings" then women shouldn't be surprise that they are treat with disdain. The reason ANY group gets pander to, is because they allow it. The problem is that some woman act and operate totally out of emotion. They make the rest of us look bad and create a stereotype we have to deal with.

I find it odd among my company that the most ardent women's rights supporters (I'm speaking of other females) thinking terms of the collective, but have disdain for the other half of the collective who disagrees with them.

This is why I choose to keep my "womanhood" as much as possible out of my politics because I can achieve the exact same results by pushing for individual rights as I could pushing for "women's rights"...whatever that truly means.

There is strength in numbers and there is lack of functioning brain cells in numbers. Join a group and you gain power while losing your objectivity and autonomy and possibly a large portion of your independent thought. People take you for granted because your actions are presumed based on what group you join, and they prey on you being complacent when they patronize you. Blacks and Democrat politicians, the most blatant and sad example of such a mental disease.

Its like all the other clicks women engage in. We like us and NOT you. One of my biggest beefs with feminist is their lack of militant crusading on the part of any woman who is not a feminist. The profound abuse and derogation of Muslim women for example. Why aren't ALL women doing something for them?

It's odd, but some pick their liberal battles. Muslims in general have been propped up against abuse by conservatives, but to largely condemn abuses by Muslim men would require them going back on the "Religion of Peace" line in their heads (it actually wouldn't). So all that happens is that if you attempt to point out a wrong committed against Muslim women the Salem witch trials is brought up and then the dialog turns into another bitter war.

Once again, why an emphasis on the individual over a group is an important distinction to make, because not all Muslim men are cruel to their wives. I live near a large Muslim population and see normal couples on date night.

Individuals do bad things, individuals do good things. Keep the eye on the individual and you can't go wrong.

Excellent post, my friend. It's the same old tactic from government, divide and conquer. Based on that some hacks say, most women are freeloaders who are willing to give up their freedom in exchange for government taking care of them.

Thank god we have women like you here as a constant reminder that notion is complete bull(*)(*)(*)(*).

The word woman comes from old Anglish wifman or with man. Females become women when they love, please, serve and yield to a man.

The reason we have lost sight of this is because the males did not become Men. And, so 200 years of the betrayal of women has led to a reaction.

The Prophet Isaiah told us that when we males reject being Men, then females and children will rule over us. Isaiah 3:12

At the root of defining a woman, is the essentual necessity to define what a Man is.

When the Founding Fathers declared, "All Men are created equal" they were not talking about criminals and hoodlums being equal to Men.

Every female has 50,000 years of genetic memory in her wanting to be under a man. Yet she is frustrated and under reactionary pressures.

The Chinese symbol of woman/female, nu, shows her being under the control of a master: nu.jpg

And one Chinese word for peace, an, shows her with a lid on her Peace.jpg

I think you should go out and meet more women.

Women have been oppressed in most of the world in recent history, but that's not the way it always is, or has been, or will be. We all tend to look at history through our own cultural lens, assuming that our way is the proper, natural, biological or divinely-ordained way, and that almost never holds true.

There really were (are) Amazons, I'm pretty sure.

Everything. Ain't the title For the Women Out There: Are you a Woman or an Individual?

I just defined woman. That has no bearing on the subject?

And to be an individual, a female has to become a woman....with Man, even if it is with only the idea of a real Man.

I am an individual who happens to be a female. I am a working woman who is pro-life. I don't fit into any nice, neat group and I kinda like it that way. I do not believe there are "women's issues". Whatever issues we have as a society are people's issues and do not just effect just one sex, race, sexual preference, etc. Every woman I know is more concerned about the economy right now than who is going to pay for their birth control. Most have not fallen for the manufactured "War on Women" political hype.

I agree. I don't feel like problems can be solved, ills be cured, by creating more and more protective classes and more legislation when the very base problem is a lack of respect for individual freedom.

Return us our freedom, enable us to see to our own lives and all will be well.

Thing is, nobody's mandating that a woman who wants to can't live out her Gorean fantasies and be somebody's slave. I don't see how the government or anyone else could accomplish that even if they wanted to (and let's face it ... most of them don't want to).

The problem is that governments (and other powers) have a stronger tendency toward saying that women must be oppressed (it's become vogue to say that this is being done for their own good but the effect remains the same).

The Iroquois gave women the right to veto any proposed war. Women appointed the leadership too.

In the US a female can only pretend "her Gorean fantasies". If anyone makes it real, the bureaucrats are eager to throw him in jail.

What is the oppression that Daybreaker is referring to?

In the ancient language roots of English the word for sheep, was also the word for breaking and crushing the female to the Will of the man. The word for virgin was a daughter broken, tamed and oppressed.

So a priest was only to marry a female who had been broken and made submissive to her father, and then the priest, her first husband.

"Women's rights" is just another form of Collectivism. Women shouldn't have rights, only individuals should.

Women fought hard for their rights so this is a good question.

As a moderate I feel I am an individual first with my own opinions and positions in every area of my life. As a woman, we are branded by government as being equals but we still make lower wages.

Democrats want the government to give women things that we don't want. We don't need free contraceptives, etc. We fight in groups for causes but when it comes down to it, we are individuals. I feel the things that are important to me as an individual is the right to "life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness".

"Freedom" is intimately connected to economics.

If you are rich you have incredible freedom.

You can travel the world at the drop of a hat and stay anywhere as long as you want.

If you are poor you may be afraid to leave the house.

Republican policies result in a few rich people getting richer and getting even more freedom while everybody else gets poorer and has less freedom.

Democratic policies result in a much larger number of people getting a reasonable degree of freedom.

Did I mention that the Democratic Party supports giving a woman the freedom to choose?

I agree, the freedom to choose for oneself is the best way to address women's reproductive organs, the gov is not in the best position to chose for the people

one can be pro-choice and pro-life at the same time...

I'm not a woman, but I do agree with you that politicians tend to view women as one giant group to be taken advantage of for their agenda driven purposes, whether it's Democrats wanting to give special protections to women or Republicans wanting to take away a woman's right to use contraceptives.

The sooner you realize our politicians don't really give (*)(*)(*)(*) other than your vote and that our entire government is as corrupt as it can be, the better off you will be. Our government is a sham. Probably the biggest sham out there. They don't care about your healthcare or if you can or cannot get an abortion, they care about your vote and possibly a donation, that's it. The media makes up these groups to make a story at election time, because it always draws a debate. Sure, people are passionate about certain topics, but they never change. They want you to think that it might, but it won't. You are a voting block that they want to win, so they will say what they need to say in order to win that block wherever they are at. It doesn't mean a damn thing. No doubt though, women like to feel important (and you are) so it works.

The two party system has been sustained for this reason. To divide America on two sides, it's easier to control. It's for this reason our govt is one of the biggest shams ever. Until this changes, you have zero influence (along with everyone else)
