"As the second day of the government shutdown nears its end, it now appears that 17 House Republicans have had enough and are prepared to vote for a ‘clean’ resolution that would get things up and running once again—all without the GOP challenges to Obamacare.

In the event the 200 House Democrats hold together to vote for the clean bill sent back to the House from the Senate, the 17 GOPers would be enough to pass the legislation and get the doors to the government open for business once again."

The lifeboats are starting to fill as Captain Boehner keeps insisting the "dipping angle" of the bow of the ship is just "natural settling" after impact with the iceberg. :)

I wish they could actually get that vote done and send it to the senate and be done with this.

Gorn the hull markings of that ship read USS America and we're all sinking.

And the lifeboat ...is not a poorly designed, poorly implemented, consequence infested, intelligence abusing, emotion invoking, destructive device better known as The Affordable Care Act.

If the republican minority defects on the issue, folk will need to remember this when the question in 2014 is 'why so many primaries' usually cast as something like this by the far left..."The Tea Party extremists are killing the party" when all they are doing is reflecting the overwhelming opinion of the party base.

These are scared conservatives ... who now realize their constituency will easily vote them out ... that is, it wasn't possible for them to redraw their districts to 99% white-conservatives like the tea partiers ...

Stop any wars lately? Republicans shut down the war machine, think about it, there's someone in your family who is alive and well right now and not all shot up on a battlefield in Syria because of the antics of some wacko birds. You're welcome.
