That was only cause he was being attacked by Obama and pals, for enforcing the law.

And if his abuse was as bad as you claimed then he would have been removed.

Point of order. Jails and prisons routi ely give out extra punishments without a court and there ia nothing illegal about it bc they punish for prison rules violations not violations of the law which would entitle a person to a trial.

Learn the law before commenting on it.

If everyone is wearing pink boxers, how is that soooo humiliating? I haven't heard of anyone being denied going to the toilet? Do you know under what cercomstances it was done? Was he playing games with this toilet thing? Feeding them with bread and water for a short period isn't starving someone. They weren't dehydrated anymore than our servicemen in Afghanistan living in Army tents. That's just what Sheriff Joe is using.

I am sure if it were you, you'd have them living in an A/C building, with television, library, game room, and three, three course meals a day. Then within a month of being released they would be right back in your jail, as they had it better on the inside than on the outside. Much like those that would rather draw welfare than work.

Criminals are not even human beings. Bread and water is too good for them.

Hate to bri g facts into a thread but no one in this country is actually a criminal as far as the govt is concerned until their case is adjucated to a finding of guilty. Until then they are merely suspects.

And yes people merely accused pf crimes should be treated better than those who have been found guilty.

Hopefully this punishment is temporary, since bread and water is far from a balanced or nutritious diet.

The "bread" is actually nutraloaf http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nutraloaf. Supposedly it is nutritious but not so tasty.

Edit: In 2010 Sheriff Arpaio won a federal case that determined serving nutraloaf was Constitutional.

You hate the Bill of Rights as you think cruel & unusual punishments are ok.

    - - - Updated - - -

using food as a punishment for people who express their political views in a totally peaceful manner, violates the Bill of Rights.

They're in jail, inmates lose quite a few rights in jail in accordance with the Fifth Amendment. Also, the courts have upheld the Constitutionality of nutraloaf.

Everything in this story seems petty to me. Putting flag stickers in the cells? Petty. Vandalizing the flag stickers? Petty. Punishing them for vandalizing the flag stickers? Petty.

And all the patriotism talk is BS. Forced patriotism is NOT patriotism.

withholding food because someone scrapes off an American flag sticker, violates the 8th Amendment.

When you are in jail for breaking laws you have no rights. It is not cruel at least they are getting bread and water. It doesn't take them long to settle down and act like humans.

limiting someone to Nutraloaf because they scraped off an American flag sticker, violates the 8th Amendment.

I pray the prisoners who get this punishment sue the ass off this so-called "Sheriff".

I suspect he'll also get a shank or too.

Federal courts have already ruled that it does not violate the Constitution. Promoting armed assault and/or murder doesn't seem like someone who cares about the law in any case. Are you posting from jail? How's that nutraloaf taste?

No you are wrong the 8th is for severe punishment. Bread and water is not a severe punishment. The sheriff also makes the inmates wear pink under ware. You have a comment for that?

the SCOTUS never said that nutraloaf can be used as punishment for scraping off an American flag sticker.

hopefully the prisoners will sue this (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*) in Federal court.

but he'll probably just get shanked instead. :)

Exactly correct. Does this bozo actually think petty chickensh!t punishments is going to persuade people to be patriotic? Or does he think that this behavior will boost his popularity among his target audience, the vast population of vindictive narrowly bigoted people he's grandstanding for?

Arpiao deliberately tries to humiliate the hapless people who end up in his twisted little playpen any way he can. He is a sick little tyrant who has no business being in a position of power. The fact that he has been re-elected for twenty years speaks poorly for the intelligence and compassion of the majority who keep voting this rotten little drama queen back into office. If anyone needs to be brought down a peg, it's him.
