What do you think is the best country in the world? What did you base that opinion on? (Military power, weather or friendliness for example) Mine is Australia beautiful and friendly, the USA is one of the best, the world's police strong and caring and last but not least the UK beautiful country great architecture and people.
Switzerland. Second happiest country in the world after Norway, and IMHO has even better natural and political conditions.
Australia,,,not if this continues. http://www.abc.net.au/news/2013-12-20/clive-palmers-waratah-coal-mine-in-queensland-approved/5170474
Sad that such a beautiful place will be destroyed but I will still love Australia. I am sure the positives and negatives have been calculated. The hippies campaigning often do not take a fair view of the situation.
New Zealand takes some beating for astonishing landscape, France for food and drink, Poland for beautiful women and Britain for being eccentrically, um, British.
America. All of the evidence points to this. We dominate culturally, militarily, technologically, and of course economically. This isn't just patriotism; it's how it is. Don't believe me? This guy proves it: http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nuv0K8H8ILM&desktop_uri=/watch?v=nuv0K8H8ILM Also, I'd like to point out, while the other nations mentioned in this thread have certain kinds of beauty, America has almost all of it. From Denali in Alaska to the beaches of Hawaii, to the skyline of NYC and the sheer awesomeness of Washington DC, to Yellowstone and the Grand Canyon, to the Everglades and the Rocky Mountains, we are a very pretty country.
Except it is full of New Zealanders lol - - - Updated - - - Yes but you suck at Cricket. Automatically drops the US out of the top 15..........sorry
US economically, militarily, in terms of cultural influence worldwide, and in terms of just being the best.
Here's some photos of America's unmatched beauty: Denali: http://www.menupix.com/town_img/DenaliNationalParkAKHP.jpg Hawaii: http://www.transformationalretreat.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/08/Kee-Beach-Kauai-Hawaii.jpg NYC Skyline: http://www.hdwallpapers.in/walls/new_york_skyline-wide.jpg Washington DC: http://www.foley.com/files/Office/8...c0d/Presentation/OfficePhoto/washingtondc.jpg Yellowstone: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/dd/Yellowstone_River_in_Hayden_Valley.jpg The Grand Canyon: http://traveltherockies.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/03/Arizona-Grand-Canyon.jpg The Everglades: http://www.rv-trips.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/Everglades.jpg The Rocky Mountains: http://www.austinlehman.com/filebin/images/tripPhotos/rocky_mountain_tours.jpg
I always liked driving thru the Alps. I think Lake Garda in Northern Italy has to be one of the prettiest places I've seen. But there's also Colorado with it's Rookie Mountains , the Red Rocks of Sedona, and the Yellowstone in Wyoming. But of course I would have to go with the US as the best country, even if we don't get cricket.
The Alps most definitely are beautiful, and I think Switzerland is one of the most perfect-beautiful countries I've seen - but almost in a "Stepford Wives" sort of way because of the Epcot-like perfection ie: not a thing out of place, linen table cloths and fresh flowers on the tables at McDs, even. (But the McD's in Germany have BEER! - gotta love that!) At least that was my impression of Switzerland. Lots of 'rules,' too. Italy is just as beautiful IMO, but more 'run down,' which I'm not saying as a bad thing. Gives some character, actually. But yes, Lake Garda has to be one of the prettiest places. So many beautiful places on this Earth, though; way too many for one lifetime. I agree with Walter Powers about the beauty of the States; as I mentioned in another thread, the U.S. has it all - rivers, Great Lakes, mountains, tropical rain forests, islands, glaciers, canyons, waterfalls, deserts, forests, etc - we don't have to leave our country to take all of that in. I think that's one of the reasons Americans don't travel outside of the country as much as some other nationalities do; we have a huge, vast, diverse country. The only other country that I've been to that 'has it all,' so to speak, is Argentina. I would image Chile does, too, but I've never been there so can't confirm. Argentina is gorgeous - of all the mountains I've seen, I think I love the Andes the best. So ruggedly beautiful. At any rate, as I said, there is so much beauty in this world. I wish I were rich only so I could see as much of it as is possible in a lifetime.
We'll be retiring early in around four to five years. My wife and I have made a bucket list where we'd like to spend some time. New Zealand is near the top of the list. Funnily we have never been there but my parents have on a few occasions. I'd go for just the trout fishing. Northern Italy is also attractive, around the Lago Como region. We've seen a bit of SE Asia. Malaysia is fantastic, especially Penang. Great food, beaches and some of the nicest people I've met anywhere. We get up to northern Thailand to Chiang Mai a couple of times a year for a week of R&R. I could easily retire there except for the Aussie retirees up there. S'pose I could always get lost in the mountains.
I hate the American government and the corporate power that infests it. But as long as I turn off the news and dont pay attention to what is going on in politics, I would probably pick the US. I have lived all over the world but few things make me as happy as taking a road trip across the US. There is such a variety of landscapes and scenery. There are places in the US where it is easy to unplug and pretend the government doesnt even exist. And the beer. I LOVE American craft beer.
Sweden to work and to be retired than Italy to have vacation and visit touristic places and to inspect historical places.
