Are you old enough to remember when the liberals said "Africa for the Africans"? So as time went by all the European countries got out of Africa and left it to the Africans. Unfortunately they knew nothing about running a nation, they were a lot like Obama. Now 60 or so years later, how many African people have been killed or starved to death in wars. IMO this is just another case of where liberals have been wrong again.

Why does it surprise some when a people who have been oppressed, uneducated, and not allowed to run their own government for generations do a poor job when all of a sudden the reins are handed over to them? The nations who spread colonialism had centuries of practice in running not only their own governments but those of the countries they conquered as well. When they pulled up stakes and left matters to the indigenous people, for all practical purposes, that nation was starting from scratch. And it is never pretty when a government is started from scratch. In just about all matters, with the possible exception of liberty, they are going to be worse off for generations to come.

There was law and order under the leadership of the European countries. Liberals posting replies here seem to think that under African rule that millions dead and starving is just fine.
Much of the wars in Africa, like what Europe had, was done to gain power, or push Islamic religion on others. People have always been starving there as much is a deserted desert area. It might be worse today because Africans never controled their country and it's a learning experience. I don't agree with many of Obama's policies, but I have to hand it to him, he saw a need and he has tried to fix it when no one else did. It might not work, but at least he tried. How is that wrong?
