No, American residents are held accountable for risking sending their health care costs to others. The same as we are held accountable for not paying any other bills.

The difference is that with health care there is no certainty about how much or little anyone's health care costs will be in any given year. Somewhere between zero and unaffordable for most people.

That's why health care insurance risk sharing is essential for most of us. It's pretty easy to predict what the costs will be for a multimillion person risk pool. Impossible to predict for any individual.

In addition much health care is not optional in civilized society. People dying in the streets is unacceptable to the vast majority of us.

If you see Joseph Stalin in any of that you are either a very committed conspiracy theorist or extremist conservative. Or both.

" I do not want to have our best intentions for others imposed on them."

Nobody is forced to avail themselves of health care. Very few make that choice though.

Why would anyone assume that all, or even most, conservatives are wealthy? Ever met Archie Bunker?

Why would you assume that all, or even most, liberals are poor? Ever heard of Warren Buffett and Bill Gates?

"Insurance is an individual premise, not a collective."

    Completely wrong.

"Death comes for us all, whether you are 7 or 70
You are aware, of course, that your private property is also in jeopardy"

Death ends private property. Always has, always will.

"Any time a child or parent gets the freedom to make their own edcational choices they have won."

    Won what?

If there is one thing economically clear in today's multinational world is that America doesn't have a brain to waste. If we have a relative handful of superstars without the great middle class of competant wealth producing workers, the only success that they are going to have is elsewhere.

We owe every child as much education as they are capable of.

Well said. We tried conservative government, business and religion. They all have failed us. The democracy that conservatives deny is the power that will rid America of their failure.

We only need to vote the out.

Conservatives created the best country in the world.

I know you liberal Marxists feel bad about that so you want to destroy America from within. You hate being the best, you are ashamed.

The socialist/communist form of government that you desire does not work, has not worked, and never will work.

Remember Bush? The Holy Wars? The wealth redistribution tax cuts? The Great Recession? The CBO report that advised him that he could pay completely off the national debt, and instead he instituted policies that ran up $17T in unpaid bills?

Remember millions of jobs going overseas? Remember millions of illegals recruited here to take American jobs? Remember "shrink to success" business plans lavishly rewarding executives?

    Remember the Westboro Baptist Church?

yep. In case you had not figured it out, your version of reason and fairness is far different than mine. I was raised NOT to be a drain on society, and to contribute when I felt I could. But I and I alone was responsible for myself, first, then consider others if I had it to do. If I chose to deal, barter, work for someone, it was to be upon my merits. I learned all I could about my trade and made a fair living off of it, and believe me, there were a few really bad years. I took the good with the bad because that's how life really works. It goes against my grain to be forced to support deadbeats and moochers. DO NOT misunderstand me. There are many out there that really do need help and I am not against the government ASKING for my assistance in the form of mild taxation. Because I live on a budgeted income (retired), the adjustment to ACA, leaves me with no other option but to purchase a lower quality insurance for more money and a deductible which financially straps me. Unless something really drastic happens, I will not be able to use my health insurance until the deductible is met. As of this date, I had four appointments annually that would have totaled $750.00 out of pocket. I had carried an 80/20 copay without meeting a required deductible.
Don't begin to tell me my loss is best for society. My mind doesn't process socialism especially at gun point.
I once saw a t-shirt that stated, Liberty or Death, it's not a choice..............so much for having freedom of choice.
If I am unable to care for myself, financially, then I become a drain upon society.

there has been no real conservative government since FDR. Have you forgotten the insertion of the Keynesian spending programs were the most liberal financial spending. In other words, spend the future today and borrow the rest. The whole welfare state is the creation of liberals. All of it. Yep, there's been debt spending conservatives, but all of the liberal financial problems we have today is the result of liberal financial programs and the liberal spending. As Americans we have no say HOW that money is spent. Nowadays, the Libs are saying we don't even have the right to demand accountability from our government.
And you want to blame someone who demands accountability at fault. Maybe that's because the trail will lead back to y'all.............

"It goes against my grain to be forced to support deadbeats and moochers."

Everybody does. They're hard to separate though from those who are poor just because their parents were poor. Those that make you think, there but for the grace of God, go I.

The only saving grace is that many of the "deadbeats and moochers" are also criminals who either end up dead in the street by other criminals or in jail.

When you come up with a plan to prevent unqualified parents from making babies let us know.

Keynesian economic theory still explains much about macro economics. What has proven wrong is the macro-economic theory, Reaganomics, that tax cuts for the wealthy, or tax cuts during good times, increase government revenue. Bush provided the definitive proof of that.

What a bizarre statement from those who can't stop spinning only good from Bush or only bad from Obama.

I don't know what your personal finances are but I know if I felt as you do, I'd either find a lawyer to do it pro bono or raise monies to pay for an attorney. If you feel that strongly about it, you'd do what you have to do to battle this unfairness you perceive.

Could it be that they've already had attorney's review the laws and found no basis for legal challenge?

The government most likely mandates what they feel is in the best interests of the American people.

That's why we have courts to hear cases filed by those who disagree with the laws.

The median family income tax rate for 2013 is 5.3%. The median family income is about $50K. That's roughly $2,500 in taxes. Your reference claims that ACA will increase the average family's taxes by $6,000 per year, a 2+X increase.

    Do you really believe that?

So no real data, just slogans, gotcha....

You are trying to make the case that the government can do nothing right, and of course you are failing miserably.
You attack education, perhaps the greatest success of any government endeavor.
And to prove the weakness of your case, you fail to name a single place anywhere in the world where private education works in place of public education,
because there is no place where that is true. Even in Harlem, most children get educated by the public school system. There are some bad schools there, but there are also good schools, and overall, the New York City school system does a good job.
I understand that you personally don't require evidence, your belief is faith based, not based on the rational analysis of facts, but a gut feeling you get from the appeal of right wing diatribes. But people on the left like data, and not cherry picked data, they like detailed analysis, point by point, that's why NPR is perceived as "left wing" by the right, because they analyze the news in depth, that's why FOX, with very little substance, and a lot of T & A and innuendo, and anonymous sources, is beloved of the right, because it agrees with what they believe, so it must be true.....

We dont have a real voucher system in America. Can I use charter schools, they get better results and we have them. Or can I use other countries with vouchers? THey are doing better then they were before, and Sweden surpassed our results a long time ago.

Do you have any legitimate reason not letting kids have equal opportunity to go to the school they want?

The limitation of charter schools is that they tend to reduce diversity. And if all the higher performing kids get isolated in schools that can either accept or reject applicants, we will be left with public school teachers with only low performing kids.

If public schools that that was a great idea they would have executed it years ago.

Charter schools have mixed results, some do better, some do worse, they average out the same as other public schools.
And cherry picking a program that may or may not actually do better than another program proves nothing.
There is no place on the earth where private schools have replaced the public school model. That's a pretty tough data point for you to get around, and so far it has you stymied.
