http://www.myfoxdfw.com/story/24476159/judge-recuses-herself-from-case-of-pregnant-brain-dead-woman ............................................. The discussion of legality would be better placed somewhere else. Here we should only be concerned about the soul. Question: Does the mother have a soul? If so, is it in her body or currently 'being judged'? Does the fetus have a soul at 14 weeks? The Abstract: Can a non-souled entity create an entity with a soul?
The idea of a soul is pretty much a religious based one, though I understand there is a theory that the soul could be the link that connects individuals to the universe, a dynamic connection that could explain how consciousness came about, but if we are to stick to the traditional interpretation of soul then it remains in the realms of religion and the various religions do not have a consensus as to when the soul enters the body, and even those who do now say that the soul is present at conception have changed to that view over the years. The common theme in most religions seems to be that when the body dies the soul is released from its mortal bounds and as such the 'shell' does not posses a soul. As far as the fetus is concerned I personally would look to nature for an answer, would this fetus naturally survive at 14 weeks when the female has died . .the answer is no, whether it has a soul or not really depends on the point of view of the person addressing the question.
There is no soul, or at least nothing beyond a religious argument for it.....therefore the point is mute.
The Bible says that one doesn't have a soul until they take their first breath. So no, fetuses according to the Bible don't have souls.
Personally I've begun to think the word soul is complete symbolism. We have never found the soul and I don't think we ever will because there is no soul. My personal opinion of the word is it being to describe who you are. Your center base of emotions. Your morality. Such as the phrase, "Do you have no soul?" when something evil occurs. Your soul, your will, your courage to perform, just YOU. I don't think there is a soul and I don't see it anymore than a word that can mean many different things or to describe who you are.
if the 'baby' can't survive beyond the womb at its current stage of development, then it suggests that the hospital is relying on inappropriate guidelines. if the baby was post 26 weeks, for example, this guideline would apply more correctly. the article doesn't mention whether the woman can be kept alive and the pregnancy maintained for another 12 weeks. as regards the soul, isn't that the thing that separates accountants from poets? ;p
many religions teach falsely of the soul being separated from a dead body, which lives on. But Jehovah God ,(Exo. 6:3), says different. The SOUL is ONLY a living being, be-it human OR... animal. This is what he say concerning a soul ,(1Pet.3:20 Which sometime were disobedient, when once the longsuffering of God waited in the days of Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few, that is, eight souls were saved by water), here... (James 5:20 Let him know, that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins) ,here... (Gen. 2:6,7 But there went up a mist from the earth, and watered the whole face of the ground. And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul)., and here... (Num. 31:28 And levy a tribute unto the LORD of the men of war which went out to battle: one soul of five hundred, both of the persons, and of the beeves, and of the asses, and of the sheep). So the SOUL IS the woman. peace
At least this person is being 'genuine' about revealing how they are arriving at their conclusion. As opposed to most of the disingenuous topics here about evolution and dictatorships.
Until 1869, the Catholic Church did not believe tha a fetus "got its soul" until "quickening"...about 16 weeks.
Well, as i researched this thoroughly a while ago, the seat of the soul is in the brain, yes, on a node that produces dmt. dmt is a 'trip' chemical that can be smoked out of the bone marrow of the giraffe. that is where the great doctors decided the seat of the soul is. When it comes to abortion, i suppose the child will get nerves very early on, but, they should observe test tube babies and see when they get nerves, as then it will be pain for the child.
This is so ignorant! Everyone, or at least H Thompson, knows that it is adrenochrome, obtained only from the pituitary of a live human.
I also linked it to the production of dmt, as, it somehow, and i cannot remember the links to press, produces it. this is a 'trip' chemical, for illusions.
Actually i happened across that looking for a 'magic chemical,' and thought i would start with the third eye. i thought the legends of jesus healing people could be copied if we could find out how to channel our own energy into another.
It clearly states that without the breath of life breathing breathed in through the nostrils, one is unliving. Do you have any quotes from the Bible that confirms that fetuses are alive before that point?
It states no such thing, obviously. It is an account of the creation of the first human being, by a process which was unique to the case of Adam, wherefore nothing can be inferred from it about anyone born in the conventional manner.
First questions are, does such a thing as a soul exist, and if so, what exactly is it? If only religious folk worried about bothersome little details like these.
Not surprising. The bible's writers didn't know what air was and operated under the assumption that breath is in fact "spirit," i.e. the thing which makes inanimate matter animate.
So why didn't Adam have life simply by have a biologically human body? Anti-abortionists claim that is what gives fetuses life.
Is a dead person alive simply by having a biologically human body? I defy you to cite a credible fetologist who opines that fetuses are not alive.
