OK, I get your argument now... all 50 states of the United States adopted concealed-carry permit laws because of "lobbying efforts"...? There ware no other significant contributing factors? I guess all the robberies, murders, assaults, random drive-by shootings, home-invasions, knock-out games, etc., etc., etc., that I've been reading about all over the country in endless streams of data are all part of some "lobbying effort", too...? For whose benefit? Smith & Wesson Holding Corp's stock value is $12.54/share. It looks like their best year was 2007, before some "vast right-wing conspiracy" launched a "lobbying effort" against the Obamanite socialist regime? Winchester (which is owned by Olin) is doing better, at $25.12/share, but their best years were in the late 90's. Hey, if there's some big market play coming forth from this "lobbying effort", please share it with the rest of us so we can all get rich. Maybe not as rich as the crudballs who made millions and millions in "green energy" Obama-endorsed scams, like Solyndra, but good enough. Ah, "bio-mass", "energy from cow dung", "global warming"... now THOSE were surely the most masterful "lobbying efforts" in the country's history since FDR sold us the New Deal and Second New Deal....
Exactly. The pro-gun lobbying groups had a concerted effort at finding like minded legislatures to introduce state bills.
Taxcutter says: Sounds to me like TN needs to ratify something like Colorado's "Poundstone Amendment." Denver cannot annex any of the surrounding towns without a public vote of consent.
Memphis politicians would never let it happen. They have let people from areas they want to annex vote about it, every single time the people are against it but the memphis politicians still imposed their will on the people. I mean come on, these are the same people that destroyed the Memphis City School system, forced te county to take over the mess and then had the nerve to demand spots on the board to run the unified school district. I think sometimes memphis politics are worse than Chicago. We are definitely a twin of Detroit, that's for damned sure.
Good, then majority rules! The more people in a society that are armed and capable of self defense, the more the crime stats drop. That's the point you're making, right?
Does the rest of the state not counterbalance Memphis or does Nashville indulge in the same practices? Dude, it sounds to me like your area needs a Freda Poundstone. http://denverurbanism.com/2011/11/farewell-freda.html
Well, I don't buy crime stats necessarily dropping cause more people are armed, but I do believe peeps ought to be able to arm/defend themselves if they so choose. The main point I was trying to convey is that our country hasn't gone to hell in a handbasket and that the reason CCW has been passed all over the place isn't in reaction to climbing crime stats and living in a more dangerous society, it's because like minded individuals organized and pushed the agenda that peeps ought to be able to arm/defend themselves if they so choose. Granted some of the peeps pushing such legislation probably have bought into the hype and fear mongering (fear does motivate) but by and large this ain't why the agenda was pushed.
Nashville doesnt to much care about Memphis, they are trying their damndest not to become it. What we need is liberals to step down, anything less is not going to help.
He may have created the knock out game by antagonizing oppressed youths, but the game itself does not exist before hand.
You go right on believing that if you want to, and I'll go right on feeling safe in my home because of the accomplishments of the very "gun lobby" you seem to detest so much. Da boyz in da 'hood and the rest of the trash that thrives in American ghettos have no fear of people like you, Forster, but they think twice before they **** with people like me, and not because I'm some kind of martial arts black-belt, either. Think about it sometime while you ruminate over what might come crashing through your front door at any given moment during the day or night.... Sweet dreams!
Where the hell did you get the idea I detest the gun lobby? I was simply stating a fact about how we've had sweeping legislation pass state governments and why it happened, not passing a judgment on whether it was good or bad. Anyway you've read a hell of a lot into my posts that wasn't there... you obviously have no clue whatsoever what my stance on firearm ownership is.
Thanks for showing your inner ignorance, clue: the morons doing it are not all black. You can now consider yourself better informed.
Hogwash. Perhaps you need to question the officers who took the report. Based on the report through the Express News, it was a group of 8 guys who attacked the victim allegedly while the cictim was accosted after mudding through the fight scene in the parking lot.
steady on old chap, this is a forum, not a computer game.
Hogwash, had the victim been black or gay and attacked by a group of whites it would automatically be a hate crime. funny how the original OP link does not mention the name of the attackers, which is textbook liberal journalism when it comes to minorities being in the wrong. But still when they are silent about that you know its a good chance the attackers were black, in which they all were and even pointed out their victim by yelling "Get that white boy" . but na, not a hate crime, wrong skin color and wrong sexuality.
Try being less obscure and maybe it will be easier for a person to determine what your stance is on gun ownership, et al. Anyway, like I said, arm yourself, or don't arm yourself... it's all up to you. One thing's for sure -- when the thugs come to kick down my front door, I won't be pissing in my panties hoping that the cops show up sometime the same day! And, in good will, I hope that the same is true for you also. Cheers! "Two in the chest, then, one in the head".
I didn't think I was being obscure, but whatever. I just don't buy all the hype about living in a more dangerous society than 50, 100 whatever years ago. Always have been, always will be bad/dangerous peeps, tis why we ought to have the right to defend ourselves with deadly force if we so choose.
The use of the word "thugs" is considered to have negative racial connotations and is the replacement for the "n" word in certain circumstances.
So when white guys raped black and Indian women they weren't committing heinous crimes? How many whites got lynched for that?
