I most certainly disagree with that if the client is also underage. If the client is an adult, then it depends on the circumstances. In any case, I wouldn't want them caged. I'd prefer to do my own handywork

As far as I understand it, NC has one. The way it works here is that a 14 year old can be involved with anyone between 14 and 18, and it isn't statutory. A 15 year old can be involved with anyone between 14 and 19. At 16, there is no upper limit (although 14 is technically the lower limit).

As for minors involved with people younger than 14, that's basically a messy situation that requires assessment on a case by case basis.

Actually, legalizing prostitution would provide a legitimate market for those interested. With a legal and regulated industry, it would be easier for law enforcement to catch people running rings with minors, since they wouldn't be tied up with having to monitor adult prostitution (in most cases).

Obviously, law enforcement would still have to monitor human trafficking however, since that involves people being held against their will.

Observe the difference between your average prostitution ring and an "escort" ring. Escorts are paid far better and have rights, since they essentially work in a legitimate industry (albeit a somewhat shady one).

Another comparable difference is Prohibition vs. legal alcohol. Banning alcohol led to a lot of organized crime, whereas legalized alcohol eliminated that market from criminals.

The same would be true for prostitution. In a society where prostitution is legal and regulated, the only criminal prostitution rings would be where women are forced against their will into the sex trade or where minors are involved.

Under that scenario, again, law enforcement could specifically target actions that actually involve abuse rather than having to bother with monitoring consenting adults.

I'm aware of that, but if it wasn't a fringe industry, it wouldn't be like that. If, for example, the whole country allowed it and regulated it, then most places would operate in a less sketchy manner.

Again, picture what breweries would be like if only a few sketchy areas allowed the production of alcohol. The same would apply to services.

 

Fine by me. Of all the things no one but the provider should be able to profit from, that tops my list! But if a woman wants to hire security, a driver, a room in a brothel, or an appointment scheduler, that is fine. If it were legal women and men could do this without having to fear being exploited.
