Is there actual scientific evidence to support Intelligent Design "theory?"

Uh, sorry. The goal of science isn't to make claims that cannot be tested, it's to make claims that CAN be tested. If they can't be tested, they are not science. Saying "it could have happened entirely by magic and there's no way to tell" isn't scientific, it is anti-scientific. A scientific statement MIGHT be false, and that's what testing is all about.

    Very true.

But what I am saying is....there is a LOGICAL WAY to assign the words Intelligent Design....and an ILLOGICAL WAY!!

Those who wrote those books went ILLOGICAL.

Just smart people... and stupid people... but I do realize this is not your point. But intelligence can be found at incredibly small and large scales. The evidence is obvious... Einstein, Tesla, Jesus... and forget Jesus if that's your point - lots of other smart guys around... and some might say Jesus was a little on the dim side... I mean dude... You're gonna' do what (speaking to Jesus) ????!!!!? And in the other direction... Myself, Curly, Butthead?

I don't think so. Their goal was, and is, and always will be, to get the creationist god and doctrine taught as Truth in public school science classes. Logically, whatever works best is the best way to do it. If making no sense works, great. If lying through their teeth works, great.

    The problem being...?

And quite properly so, seeing only dullards would find it interesting.

No doubt it appears that way to people who have no regard for truth.

That's because I was operating on the assumption that I wasn't talking to a drooling imbecile, since no one else would need to be told that, and that therefore self-evident truths are always true. If your aim is to induce me to question that assumption, you may consider your mission accomplished.

You have already made it obnoxiously plain that you don't get the concept of self-evident truth, so repeat performances are hardly necessary.

You. I wouldn't accuse you of dishonesty, because you can't lie unless you know you're doing it, and you don't appear to know anything at all.

Well...their lying through their teeth did not really work for long.

What I am DISMAYED over is that many Bible Belt Fundies were so quick to jump on the Intelligent Design Bandwagon and they did so without even once reading or questioning or looking into the facts because MAN!.....if a member reads that Intelligent Design book...Of People and Pandas and does not realize in the first couple of sentences that Intelligent Design is neither intelligent nor has a design....as that book is quite possibly the single biggest collection of idiotic statements I have EVER READ...well...it just makes me SAD.

I MEAN IT!!! It actually saddens me to a point you could not imagine.

I have spent my LIFE using my head to figures things out and SOLVE PROBLEMS and with the exception of one mistake....my BRAIN and my ability to THINK FOR MYSELF....has kept me and others from harm and allowed me to gain a great deal.

And the thing is...THE SMARTEST THING ANY PERSON CAN COME TO REALIZE IS THEY DO NOT KNOW EVERYTHING!!!

The second smartest thing a person can realize is to listen to other ideas from other people and then by using the SCIENTIFIC METHOD....determine the best available plan of action.

THE DUMBEST THING A PERSON CAN DO....is to allow OTHERS to tell them how to think or allow others to think for them!!!!

    Glad you think so.

Yet unlike you, I know what a self-evident truth is; and if I didn't know anything else, my knowledge base would be infinitely more valuable than yours.

BTW, do feel free to ignore my posts from here on out.

Out of curiosity....what is it you believe to be a self-evident truth?

I hope you are aware that Pandas is NOT an intelligent design book, it's a creationism book. But after the Edwards v. Aguilard decision, they did a global search and replace sticking design in wherever it said creation. Other than this word substitution, the book is unchanged from the creationism original. And if there's any better way to demonstrate that ID is pure creationism, I can't imagine it.

Of Pandas and People: The Central Question of Biological Origins is a controversial 1989 (2nd edition 1993) school-level textbook written by Percival Davis and Dean H. Kenyon and published by the Texas-based Foundation for Thought and Ethics (FTE). It espouses the pseudoscientific[1] concept of intelligent design—namely that life shows evidence of being designed by an intelligent agent (specifically, the Christian God).[2] The book presents various polemical arguments against the scientific theory of evolution.

From what I understand the I.D. people used this book as their anchor I.D. Children's Book.

Anyway one looks at it....it is IDIOCY from all angles and pages! LOL!!!

And, of course, all anyone has to do is Google "the Wedge Document" and learn what the Disco Institute AND (not so) Intelligent Design is all about.

Yeah, it's all about the Science.

I would, and so should you.

Specific "Gods" (big "g") can be logically disproved. The overall general idea of a "god" (little "g") can't be entirely ruled out, but there exists no evidence for it, nor is there a way to test for it. By it's very nature (no pun intended), the concept of god (even without a clear definition) is not scientific and should be left out of school.

    I agree.

There is absolutely NO REASON to allow the teaching of a Hypothetical existing Entity when there is not even enough evidence or data to support such a hypothesis being developed in the first place.

It is like saying....Today kid's we are going to teach you about a game called....BASEBALLSOCCERVOLLYBALL RACING!!!

We have never seen anyone even play this hypothetical sport nor do we have evidence that such a sport even exists but since there exists a MATHEMATICAL POSSIBILITY that such a sport could exist even though probability dictates a 99.999999999999999999999999% chance it does not exist......we are going to teach you about it anyways.

    AboveAlpha...yep...STUPID!

Well...since it's been a couple day's and you STILL have not answered the question....I would say....Uhhhh...NO!

    It's is YOU! LOL!!!

Are you going to answer this incredibly honest and easy to answer question or not?

What the HELL are you talking about?

You were talking about some truths you found to be self evident.

I asked you which truths you found to be self evident.

    You have not answered.

There is NOTHING more to this than a question I asked you.

So...either you chose to answer my simple question or you chose not to....although I don't understand what the big deal is?

OK, I'll spell it out for you: you have previously distinguished yourself as someone who just doesn't listen, wherefore a conversation with you has all the appeal of flat beer.

You'd have to ask someone who thinks it's a big deal. ;)

..and by that same logic, we cannot rule out the existence of Unicorns or Leprchauns!
