    NEW YORK (CNNMoney)
Now that Karen Willmus can get health insurance through Obamacare, she plans to quit teaching 9th grade English at the end of the school year.
The 51-year-old found policies on the Colorado state exchange for about $300 a month. That's less than what she's paying now for employer-sponsored coverage and less than half what she paid on the individual market in 2007.

Like Willmus, millions of people could quit their jobs or cut back on their hours in coming years because of Obamacare, according to a recent report from the Congressional Budget Office.
The report found that Obamacare could reduce the labor force by the equivalent of 2.5 million workers by 2024, as many Americans may opt to work less to retain eligibility for Medicaid or subsidies. That sparked a fresh round of criticism that health reform is hurting the economy.
But for some, Obamacare is allowing them to become entrepreneurs or retire a few years early since they'll be able to find affordable individual coverage for the first time.
Instead of eating bonbons on her couch, Willmus plans to start her own business with her teen daughter publishing materials for non-native English speakers and others looking to improve their literacy. She expects to work even more than she does now and hire two or three people.
"I can't afford to go out and buy insurance while trying to start a business," said Willmus, of Colorado Springs, Colo. "Obamacare will allow me to be more comfortable at risking what I own."

For others, Obamacare frees them to leave a job before they qualify for Medicare.
Edward Perri's job as a grocery clerk has caused him constant back and knee pain in recent years, but he continued to work because he needed insurance. Obamacare allowed him to retire in December after 39 years, 4 months and 23 days on the job.
His retiring at 57 allowed a more junior employee to move up on the job, said Perri, who is single and lives in Muskegon, Mich. Had Obamacare not existed, he'd either have to try to tough it out until he qualified for Medicare at 65 or pay $500 a month for COBRA coverage.
Tom Perkins: Obama is 'amateur president'
Instead, he's paying $50 a month for a policy. And, as he sees it, the $450 that he would have sent to an insurance company is going to buy groceries, fix his car and take a vacation with his girlfriend.
"That is money I spend in the local economy, creating and saving jobs," he said.
Others may not retire right away, but Obamacare gives them more options to cut back or venture in another direction.
Craig Mason, 59, said he has felt tied to his job as an engineer at a large defense contractor because he and his wife needed health insurance. A diabetic, he couldn't get affordable coverage on the individual market.
Now, however, he's thinking of leaving his employer in a few years to focus more on his side job, repairing and building guitars and other string instruments. He also wants to spend more time with his three grandchildren.
"I want to try something different," said Mason, a Germantown, Md., resident. "I don't want to be tied to a large corporation. The Affordable Care Act may be just the vehicle to bridge the gap until I'm eligible for http://money.cnn.com/2014/02/25/news/economy/obamacare-job/index.html?iid=HP_LN

This is outstanding news to see and hear America start businesses and save money on health insurance policies. Score this as another win for President Obama!

It's still private insurance and still (*)(*)(*)(*)ty. I mean, deductibles are what will kill you in emergencies and average low deductable hover around 2000$. That doesn't cover any day to day (*)(*)(*)(*), and you're still paying monthly premiums so that if you get under 2000 dollars sick, you still have to pay for that too?

I agree, we need a public option, but this is a step in the right direction...

The only way you can quit your job is for some other citizen to work harder to support you.

One can only hope. It's immoral, in my view, to profit off of illness. It's also not economically beneficial either to siphon money out of the rest of the economy directly to health costs through incurred debts from hospital bills due to simply living. It incentivizes having a sick population. If you're sick, you're not working, generally. Or you're working and making yourself sicker. Neither is good.

Let me get it straight... because of heavily subsidized Obamacare, people are now able to quit workforce early in their productive life... or cut their work-hours, or start a business, all the while saving money... but lemmi ask you - who's paying for these early retirees or brand new entrepreneurs medical bills?

Obamacare creates a whole new class of entitlement recipients... what a (*)(*)(*)(*)ing great success....

It's a known fact that politicians and organizations hire people to post whatever they want in order to sway public opinion on these pages. You link to this all the time like it's an official news outlet reporting from the front lines and is infallible. It's also completely anecdotal and doesn't pass real scrutiny that an official study with controls would provide.

They can talk all the mess they want to and tell stories until they're blue in the face. If the facts don't back them up, it's just hot air and best ignored.

EDIT: This goes equally for the anecdotal story that this thread's post is based on.

No, people have been able to quit their jobs because of government funded healthcare for many decades before Obamacare.

Well as long as I can get free stuff that these young Obama voters will have to pay for it sounds like a sweet deal. By the time these young rubes are my age they won't be getting squat. Sounds like justice to me! Hahahaha!

Insurance companies have been quick to not volunteer to show anything that will benefit the pocketbooks or healthcare options of customers. Either way, paying into a system monthly for a 'just in case' scenario and then that just in case scenario still requires you to pay even more money makes zero sense, especially at the average deductable/premium ratio.

From the options that are available to them... Number of which and quality of which are decreasingly proportional to the number of years Obama and his administration stays in power.

    I know.

The article implies that every Obama voter who quits their job will still be a productive tax paying citizen.

Maybe even start the next Apple or Facebook.

But since they are so eager to leave the real workplace I have my doubts about that.

Many of them will go on Medicaid and then (*)(*)(*)(*)(*) that the service is lousy.

A public option would make even more of this kind of thing possible, which I've been saying for years. We'd see a lot for entrepreneurship with the specter of health care costs off our backs.

Liberals are actually celebrating more and more people becoming takers. They think there is some magic money tree to pay for these peoples' subsidized health care.

What a total (*)(*)(*)(*)ing loser class of people. It appears the Liberals on this site may have read it, but clearly DID NOT COMPREHEND WHAT IT MEANS.

+1. I honestly could not believe that this thread was started by a liberal who sees someone quitting their job to live off of government largesse as a positive.
