Absolutely. The war has never been a failure. Arresting a few stoners with plants here and there isn't warfare.

Honestly just do it like China. It worked there.

That's just the pot causing you to make stupid claims.

Enforcement is a temporary application (if done right i.e. post above) for permanent solution to a problem.

Meh, I think there is a much better argument to be made for legalizing it than keeping it illegal. Having worked at a bar for years and dealing with drunken idiots, I think it's much easier to argue that alcohol is actually worse to be legal. That said, I'm not interested in revisiting prohibition either. I'm only saying that if alcohol is legal, it makes sense that marijuana probably should be too. My only concerns are with ironing out the details. Such as devising ways to measure how intoxicated someone is for the purpose of operating motor vehicles and such. Those are realistic problems that need to be addressed before just fully legalizing it.

Sorry, dude. It's called independent thought. Just because I'm a conservative doesn't mean I'm going to blindly follow the herd on everything. That would make me no better than the liberals.

This is not your independent thinking at play here. This is a social engineering campaign going on for a few decades and you have fell victim to it.

You really want a nation of sluts and sloths (more so than we already have?)?

    Fine, agree to disagree....

You don't have the authority to tell me what I can do with my own body. I own me. You don't. And, frankly, I'm getting tired of people like you who think you are so important that I must do as you say. Kiss my ass.

Turn on CNN. . .they are having an EXCELLENT documentary "Weed," by Dr. Sanjay Gupta precisely on the effect on marijuana on several illnesses and the dramatic POSITIVE effect marijuana has on those illnesses, including a little girl who was experiencing over 300 seizures A WEEK and was placed on a feeding tube for 2 years.. . until her desperate parents turned to a special strain of marijuana (containing less THC and more of the "healing" substance, CBD). This little girl is now experiencing ONLY ONE seizure a week, she is eating on her own, she is walking, she started talking.

Don't believe every negative thing you hear about ANYTHING. . .

And, by the way. . .I have NEVER smoked marijuana. . .although I tried ONCE and it didn't seem to have any effect of any kind on me (might have been because I have never been a smoker, and I don't even know how to actually inhale smoke!)

So you do agree that one can moderate, just like people can moderate their drinking, yes? Then I don't see what your objection is. Just because beer and liquor are available doesn't mean automatically that drunks appear when those things are in the same room as people. Yet, seemingly, this is how your point of view sounds...I find it fascinating that you would think no one has self control. As well, might I point out quite a few states that cannot arrest on possession of less than a certain amount, usually an amount equated to personal consumption. Those laws haven't caused any statistically proven drop in productivity. Neither has increased productivity been shown to correlate in 'dry cities' where there are no liquor stores.

Again, it all comes back to just being objective on it. I appreciate your concerns, and I'm sure many people share your point of view. I've got reservations about alcohol. However, history shows us what the alternative is and the present shows us with the alternative is for making weed illegal. It's a plant. We made a naturally occurring substance illegal. That's just bizarre in and of itself.

Exactly. Let people put whatever into their bodies, it's their responsibility to look after themselves, not anyone else's, and certainly not the taxpayer's.

Always fascinating when someone recommends that the United States act like a Communist Totalitarian government.

Sort of like suggesting that someone use a shotgun to get rid of that annoying acne.

China still has a drug problem by the way.

I suspect that means you identify as a Conservative.

A big government, nanny state, Communist Totalitarian loving Conservative.

There is no real conservative argument for Prohibition.

If the choice is between acting like China or having more drug junkies around, I'll take the junkies. I'm not going to go down that road just so people stop doing something that others don't want them to do.

Isn't it a shame that alcohol-probably responsible for more deaths and diseases than any other drug-isn't illegal. Then you could have a real execution-fest to satisfy your blood-lust.

My objection is economic and productivity only. We dont need more potheads. More casual users is one thing but more abusers is a cost, economic and productivity.

The number of potheads isn't going to significantly increase, if at all. The reefer madness view of pot is just silly in light of statistics and scientific evidence that no such thing would occur.

I think the drug tests have a lot of pro-prohibitionist confused, you can test positive for pot use a month after partaking, but your only stoned for a few hours after partaking in the pleasure, much like alchol without the hangover

Possibly, but i've not run into any anti weedists (lol, weedist...that's funny sounding) mention this in their opposition. It's generally just a fear of everyone staying at home eating cheetos.
