Anyone caught this yet? 3 episodes in and I'm mesmerized. Such great atmosphere, and I love how they peel back the layers without just explaining it all. It's neat how they go for the buddy cop and completely upend the formula. I have heard complaints about the dialogue but I'm totally into the weird bad poetry as I find it suits the weird creepy style. thoughts?
Awesome show. Great writing, two terrific actors and Alexandra Daddario gets naked. Who could ask for more? HBO, Showtime and AMC continue to deliver great television.
I am waiting until all episodes are shown then I will on demand it. Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey are great actors. Killer Joe is a great movie, (*)(*)(*)(*)ed up but good.
Holy Crap this just blew my mind http://io9.com/the-one-literary-reference-you-must-know-to-appreciate-1523076497 this show gets better and better.
I too am really into this show. Two fine actors. I wasn't sure where the writers were going until the last episode. Can't wait until next week!
Great series so far. It's not too aware of it's setting but McConaughey and Harrelson both bring it home nonetheless...
Best show on tv right now(by far). Won't appeal to the masses because there are no zombies, dragons, or vampires.
Spoken like a true Deadwood fan... ...and there's plenty of "zombies, dragons, or vampires" they're just not wearing costumes and playing house like those other scraps they dish out... . . . ;
Based on all the wonderful reviews for this show, I decided to start watching it. So far, I've only seen the first two episodes, but I'm wondering, when does it start? Now just to clarify, I love shoot-outs, explosions, and car chases as much as the next guy, but my tastes are certainly not confined to those applicable genres, nor am I expecting these types of things from True Detective. I also greatly enjoy dramas, mysteries and stories that make you think. I see a lot of potential in the show, however, so far, it has been exceedingly slow, and I've been very patiently waiting for something - anything - to happen. I've been trying to give it a fair shot, but it's really losing my attention quickly. The ending of episode 2 was promising (an I mean the very end, like the last 2 minutes). Can anyone tell me, does this show start to pick up the pace at all (and by "pace", I don't mean action-y stuff, I mean move the plot along)? And soon?
Great show. Very well written and the character development is properly evolving for the atmosphere being created. I can understand why many don't appreciate the artistic direction.
Excellent 1-take tracking shot!!!
Loved True Detective. The ending was deeply unsatisfying, but ironically I think that was the entire point. The guy who played Errol was also brilliant. If you liked the story you should check out Robert Chambers' 1898 short-story collection "The King In Yellow," from which TD took some thematic and symbolistic influence. "TAKE OFF YOUR MASK!"
Normally I like these types of shows being a big fan of Hannibal but this show and the Following have been nothing but a big snooze fest. The Following is mostly annoying because apparently everyone and their mom is secret serial killer just waiting to take orders from some guy the met on an internet chat room. This show just moves around to much and while I think the acting is great it just moves at a snails pace.
They've learned real well from the vamps how to string along a meal... ...and a drink...
Yea Following is getting redundant, but I thought TD was much more than just a string along. It had a purpose but it took longer to get there than the solve the world problems in an hour or less programing on every other channel.JMHO
mrs wyly watches the Following but I can't bear to watch it...the supposed level of FBI incompetence that we're supposed to accept is ridiculous...every criminal is a super criminal and the FBI are nothing more than a modern day version of the Keystone cops just isn't plausible...
zombies, dragons and vampires are just different version of human monsters...the ruthless brutality of Game of Thrones is found throughout history, dragons are merely a replacement for nuclear weapons or any other super weapon...
