Why cant liberals understand the simple fact that if you get rid of high taxes, the people will improve the economy. They will go out and buy the goods they need to improve their own lives. That means the small compaines that produce these goods will expand and hire more people that in turn pay taxes.

IMO until big government gets off the backs of people there will be almost no growth in the economy.

Another thing that liberals do is pile more and more regulations on the people. What the hell is it about liberals that think they need to control every aspect of American life??????

Most of their base doesn't pay any significant amount of income tax so their is no political upside for them in supporting tax cuts. That said, the right is wrong in wanting to cut tax rates given our debt and deficits.

Care to show us how much government has expanded during the Obama presidency?

Care to show what tax increases have occurred during the Obama presidency?

Care to show how the US had strong economic growth during the Regan presidency despite dramatic increase in the size of government and 11 tax increases?

Care to show how the US maintained strong economic growth during the Eisenhower presidency, despite record high personal income rates?

Some of American's most prosperous times were when income tax was much higher.

When will conservatives understand that voodoo economics doesn't work?

    Gut response?

The majority of the consumer base does not make enough money that new cuts would effect them. The extra fifty or sixty bucks they might save from reduced income tax would go straight into paying off credit card debt and trying to pay off the principal on their underwater mortgages.

To the people.... especially taxes from the rich, who were taxed higher and had much fewer loopholes.

Am I the only one who went to civics class?

I'll put it as briefly as possible: Rich people take money from poor people and accumulate wealth. The government makes them give a bit back by funding social programs that the poor need (capitalism creates poverty). Meanwhile, funds also go to the military and other areas.

    Now, continue baiting....

Exactly! We tried trickle-down economics and it failed miserably. So what will fix things? More trickle-down??? Are you kidding me?

Also, we are taxed now at historically low levels. The conservatives chose to ignore that fact and still pretend that taxes all of a sudden got much higher. They didn't.

If you wish to help them understand, you can start by refraining from broadcasting mixed signals.

Sounds like a rhetorical question, in which case it leads nowhere.

Because deep down, many liberals are deeply suspicious of economic growth in general.

They think that economic growth translates into the wealthy raping the environment and enriching themselves while oppressing the lower classes. Also, from a strictly power stand point, economic growth translates into regular people empowering themselves and becoming LESS dependent on the government and thus LESS willing to vote for a group offering to provide for their needs with government funds.

Rich people take that money. That's how they get rich. Are you suggesting that they refuse it?

Many rich people steal, but no, I wasn't suggesting that all rich people steal.

Well, for one thing, taxes are used to fund consumer protection that prevent frauds and scams from corporations.

$772 Million Penalty for Bank of America Credit Card Practices

Bank of America has been ordered to pay roughly $772 million in refunds to customers and fines to federal regulators to settle allegations that the bank used deceptive marketing and billing practices involving credit card products.

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau said that Bank of America “illegally charged” its customers for credit monitoring and credit reporting services that were not received.

That's one of thousands of examples in which the people need to be protected from corporations.

The housing bubble was in motion way before any regulation came into the picture. If the regulation had gotten there sooner, the gambling casino would have shut its doors sooner. Regulation was too little too late.

rotfl thats it? thats your big answer on how higher taxes made for a better economy? "The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau??" and seriously they fined one bank $772 million and they still needed our tax dollars? yeah its the rich who are the ones stealing our money riiiiiiight. (sarcasm) no seriously how did our taxes go to help the economy besides the use of billions to give 40000 people $30 each when banks charged them falsely?

Well you have to admit that Obama's trickle up poverty is working. Look how many more people are on food stamps now.

Fact the "rich" already pay 86% of personal income tax. Our big government idiot in chief wants even more.

With less taxes people can buy what THEY want, not be dictated to as to what big government wants them to have.
