Police Commissioner in NH town resigns

Once again the liberals are preaching "Free speech for me, but not for thee." What ever happened to the constitution? Are we just completely ignoring it now?

I see nothing wrong with what this man said. Negro is not a bad word. Why are we playing PC police here?

    Two things-

First of all- Free speech means free from government regulation- the government cannot outlaw the use of the term "n******r'.

It does not mean freedom from criticism, nor freedom from consequences.

    And 'liberals'?

Wolfeboro, located in the scenic Lakes Region in the central part of New Hampshire, has around 20 African-American residents among its population of 6,300. The town was often a dateline in news reports during the 2012 presidential election, with GOP Mitt Romney spending time with family and campaign aides at his vacation home on Lake Winnipesaukee.

Over the weekend Romney called on Copeland to apologize and resign.

"The vile epithet used and confirmed by the commissioner has no place in our community: He should apologize and resign," Romney said in a statement provided to CNN

the man in that position is supposed to set examples and be a "leader"

He was not fired but he tended his resignation due to outcry. Why it was picked up by the national news is beyond me as Wolfeboro is out of the way and a small NH town. My hunch is any story to continue pushing anti-Obama as being racist will be used. We can't have people looking at and discussing the disaster known as the Obama presidency

Cant disagree with this. But when did the MSNBC racists who made fun of Romneys black grandchild on national TV resign? Where is the leftist outrage against racist who are also leftists?

No one made fun of Romney's grandson. I totally agree with this article...
    http://www.alternet.org/media/she-c...sa-harris-perry-apologize-mitt-romneys-family...

...and the right wing will create a scandal out of anything, so it comes as no surprise. Anyway off topic.

Well I would have to see what they said and in what context- but I have no problem with you calling for their resignation if you believe that they were being racist.

Did they call his grandchild a pickininey? a 'wee little n****r? Did they imply that Romney's grandson was going to be on welfare because he was black?

Anyway- feel free to provide links- I don't remember anything about it.

No they just put a picture of him with his family and sang "one of these things is not like the other" Pathetic and so is any attempt to deny this was racism. Are you going to sit there and tell me if Karl Rove said this on Fox that Al Sharpton wouldn't have blown a vein and Obama wouldn't be on national TV telling us we need to end this type of racism. I openly laugh at all who attempt to state this wasn't racist.
Here lll demonstrate by asking you a question you wont answer.
When they said one of these things is not like the other, what exactly were they joking about? Ill await your non answer you will give in order to hide your denial and utter hypocrisy.

It was a photo of the Romney family with 22 grandkids, one of which was black. Melissa Perry sang a line from an old nursery song "Which one doesn't belong"

She apologized to the family ""I am deeply sorry that we suggested that interracial families are in any way funny or deserving of ridicule."

So it was not a racial comment, but just a really bad joke in poor taste.

But our conservative friends forget Melissa Perry herself is also African American

First I saw it live. It was a fluff piece about family Christmas photos. Second you forget it was an African American who made the comment. So now (according to you) Black people talking about black people is racist. And you claim liberals are hyper sensitive. me thinks you need to have a good look in the mirror

Im sorry but this is utterly ridiculous. You lefties have sat here for last two years and cited racism at every corner when race wasn't even being discussed then when we catch leftists committing straight up racism you have the audacity to sit there and say its a really bad joke. The only jokes here are the leftist who fail to follow their own racial guidelines when its out of their lips and not someone on Fox. Anyone saying this isn't racist has no integrity. It is straight up racism as they are treating a child different simply because his skin color is different than the people next to him. Bad joke my ass. That's a lie and you know it and I know you know it.
Also how is it possible you think because someone is African American that its ok to torment a child on national tv. Its still racism no matter whos lips it came from.

Black white red or orange, if you single someone out based on the color of their skin then you are a racist. Im sure it will be comforting for Romneys grandchild to watch this video when he gets older knowing that it was ok because the person ripping on him was black. I love it we are racists for asking for questions to be answered on Benghazi (something that has nothing to do with race) but a leftist making fun of childs skin color is not racist according to lefties. I love it, lefties say its not racism because of the color of the racists skin and the victims skin. That's racist too! Good god you lefties well.....I have to thank you. You have proven to me my stance against liberalism is totally valid. Its fascinating to watch you guys justify your hypocrisy.

Whos talking about mit Romney? we were talking about his grandchild that was made fun of by Racists. Tough keeping up? The thread is about the racial situation the NH police commissioner has caused. Racism is a valid on point topic for this thread. I pointed out the hypocrisy of the left shouting racism at every corner except when its one of them who is the racist. If you don't like it, its simply too bad. Do you have a rebuttal or just more pathetic whining? Say uncle and Ill stop pointing out the truth.

Over the years the left has used the "racist" accusation like a political bludgeon when it was clear to any disinterested observer that there wasn't any actual racism involved...this isn't one of those cases.

He outed himself as a racist and lost his job as a result. Good.

I'm sorry, but how is suggesting that interracial families are deserving of ridicule not racial?

Also, why is the melanin content of the person making the suggestion relevant?
