Who can pick out an individual with a serious mental illness? Are you qualified? We got lots of nuts in our society, but not all get violent, some are just child-like or recluses. Some "normal" people flip out and get violent. It's easy after an incident to say what you would have done. You flip out near me and start shooting I'm going to put hot lead in you.

 

Take your own advice gun grabber. Knives and other weapons kill more than guns. A rational person can read that and understand that the gun will save you from that. Practice what you preach.

Nothing but a time machine could stop what happened. Strange that none of these armed citizens were available to stop this crime. Is your solution to require everyone to carry a gun? I doubt he sat back in his car and stabbed people as he passed them. You can't mow people down with a knife -- let alone while driving. It's guns (assault rifles) that are the commonality in mass shootings, not knives.

The kid was being treated for a socia disorder/mental illness....his parents warned the police, there should've been alarm bells going off everywhere when he purchased 3 handguns...with all the government spying into our daily lives there is no way this kid shouldve been allowed to purchase a weapon...

you can prevent people who shouldnt have weapons from attaining them, many countries are very successful doing it...are you telling me americans arent intelligent enough to do the same....

 

What does this have to do with letting mentally ill people have guns? Knives are dangerous, of course, nobody is disputing that and there are definitely some people who "should not be allowed sharp objects", but why do some gun advocates apparently think that we should then let them have guns instead?

I don't think anybody is saying that people who are provably stable shouldn't have guns but there ARE laws against the mentally ill having them, and they should be enforced.

The police were called on this guy and they simply let him go because he was "polite". If somebody has acted out to the extent that a mental health professional is willing to turn them in that seems a pretty (*)(*)(*)(*)-poor attempt at an "investigation

 

Since some people aren't burdened by education, here's a definition:

But to your point, of course mentally ill people should not be near guns, or knives, or bats, or hammers or anything else that can hurt or kill if they are suicidal or homicidal. This spoiled POS also mowed people down with a car and stabbed three others. But the fixation is on the gun.

Apparently, that was his death sentence. Too much expectation from himself, from people, girls expecially. Not only that but he was fed up with the junk science concept of " alpha male " and was frustrated because he was not an alpha. Seriously, i find this most disturbing because, as if life wasn't complicated enough, people also have to worry about not act as a beta, because they told them beta = loser. He blamed also being not fully white but half white half asian and asians are inferior to whites.
