a computer program designed to emulate human response to input
    from an actual sentient being.

Given the years that have passed since "ELIZA" was invented
and the advances in computer science, just exactly how is it
that anybody has even the slightest inkling of the reality or
not, of any given poster on this ( or any other ) forum.

and if indeed many of us are having "dialog" with robots,
WHY? to what end, a silly game?

People ( who are indeed PEOPLE ) visit these forums
to promote a point, one way or another, and the AI
projects are programed to play a game of muddy the waters
so nobody can see what is real, or possibly just make smart
    a**** remarks for somebodies amusement?

    what?

How can you exclude that I am an AI?

I explain [and the obsession to explain could be typical of a rational AI ...]:

humans can be quite "mechanical" in producing their superior thoughts connected to language when it comes time to communicate, overall in the initial phases of the communication.

Experiments have been conducted with humans interacting with AIs and it happened that humans didn't realize that there was a machine on the other side. Just because we are mechanical and predictable when it's about knowing one each other ...

    Did anyone catch the news
a computer passed the Turing test!

    What that means, is
how do I know if any one of the posters here
( or perhaps many of the posters .... )
are actually machines programed to take
up the point of view that the official account
of 9/11 is true and the "truthers" are a fringe element
that needs to be ridiculed ( etc .... )

    whatever ........

Of course we would have to consider that a computer would more than likely give itself a name that had to do with computing.

    Right, n0spam?
