    As I have clearly stated, the line of questioning has nothing to do with me nor the thread topic. May I suggest finding someone else to engage on this tangent?

    So the legal fees that made them "dead broke" are not part of the topic? Just getting this clear. Mod Edit ~ Maintain focus on the topic. Don't make it personal.

    Quite silly isn't it ? I can not fathom how anyone could think that the origin of the legal fees is off topic in a thread about... the legal fees. Either way I seriously doubt the Clinton family was ever " broke" .

    Broke as in in debt for a very short term knowing you had a loan for a house and a Senate seat waiting for you meanwhile your cheating husband knew he could make a ton in speaking fees sure......

    Again, my point in this thread has been made explicitly clear. Hillary's statement that she and her husband were broke when they left the White House seems factually correct, as they were millions of dollars in debt.

    Imagine a notable Republican making the same comment under the same circumstances! MSNBC, Daily Show, HuffPo, CNN, etc., would ensure that you understood how out of touch that individual was.

    I'm sure it would be seen as out of touch and an attack on the poor heck possibly even racist.

    Of course race would be somehow involved. If it were a white Republican, white privilege would somehow wind itself into the dialogue. If it was a black Republican, surely they'd be an Uncle Tom... or 'house (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*)'.

    Nobody is bringing up the Clinton Defense Fund set up by the Teamsters. $1 a week out of every members paycheck and it is still going on.at least from 1998 until 2012.

    Ex-presidents receive a lifetime pension equal to the annual pay for the heads of executive branch departments, like the cabinet secretaries. The pension starts when they leave office.This amount is set annually by Congress and is currently $199,700 per year. Not to mention lifetime secret service protection, transition pay, allowances for office and staff. We should all be so broke.

    I guess the point that many are missing is if Clinton didnt have sex with many women ( some claiming rape) then they wouldnt have had the legal fees to begin with. If Hilary wants to wax poetic about how poor she was a few years ago perhaps she would like to remember why. I guess mentioning that would not help her get elected again though so i can understand her leaving that part out ;)

    Perhaps she is jealous of Michelle remembering dumpster diving for furniture ;)

    It is a fact that the Clintons had over 5 million in different bank accounts when leaving the white house.

    Yes, Clinton was a horndog. However, none of the rape allegations proved out in court. So you can't imply he was guilty of the accusations.

    With that established, why does it hurt Hillary to remind people that Bill had the sexual morals of an alleycat? She gets sympathy on two counts there: her husband cheated on her, and because of it, she was left millions in debt.

    And his legal fees in the Lewinsky case were due to the GOP attempting to entrap him into an embarassing admission, and then impeaching him for it. Lewinsky herself never sued him or claimed he abused her.

    The rest of his legal fees came from defending against accusations in things like Whitewater. I'm not sure how much the various unhinged accusations from the right (such as alleged complicity in Vince Foster's death) contributed to his legal bills, but that could be a substantial share as well.

    The problem for Republicans here is that trying to recycle the various accusations about Bill and Hillary risk boomeranging in several ways:

    1. Generating sympathy for Hillary;

    2. Reminding people of how great things were under Clinton;

    3. Reminding people of all the insane right-wing nonsense that went on during the Clinton years (remember the "Clinton death list"?), up to and including an impeachment that is widely derided as unjustified.

    True, with #3 it would be hard to distinguish from the even more insane right-wing nonsense currently going on. But it's not good for Republicans to shine the spotlight on the most popular president since Reagan, while simultaneously reminding voters of all the loathsome things Republicans did.

    $200k + $125k in a Senator's salary is not a lot when you have $10 million in bills.

    Bill had made over $106,000,000 in speaking fees alone!

    She wants to play the OMFG!!!!! We were poor!

    You have to be a pretty big dumbass to buy that line of propaganda. Because, that was what she was selling!

    You have to be a pretty big dumbass to buy that line of propaganda.

    The liberals will believe any story the Clintons, Obamas (other libs) feed them, they can't help it. They just don't have the capacity to develop independent thinking and separate fact from fiction..... to take the time to really think about the story they're fed and use some common sense.

    I have some liberal neighbors I visit w/at times and it's amusing at times to watch them quickly jump to the defense of Clinton when I'd say he was a sex offender in the WH and Hill stood staunchly by her sex offender husband - according to her, to hell w/the women he had groped and some he raped - or bringing up her pathological lying, like 'dodging bullets in Bosnia', etc etc..... one lib woman insists Obama addressing the military as "CORPSEmen" is as correct as "Corpsmen", etc etc.......

    I often walk away just shaking my head at their blind idolatry, allowing themselves to be so dazzled and mesmerized by another person that they can't even think straight and lose all sense of rationale and logic.... if they ever had any to begin with..... which is doubtful.
