I would give anything for the peace and freedom Americans have. ~Thousands of Syrian refugees in Lebanon right now

Yeah, they're probably so pissed off about what happened with the Clippers and the $2 billion deal, they vowed not to let this one pass to show who's in charge. Following such high profile setbacks they will keep lashing out in the domain of sports until those think tanks feel they're the smart ones again.

Give it a break, Waldo. NO... as in a team name, RED COATS, as in British taxes, tyranny, and treachery. Jeebus, effing Xristos, sit on a tomahawk or something.

If a bunch of poster found your user name offensive to those of Italian Decent, should PF revoke it?

No, but if a bunch of posters contacted me and said they found my username offensive to Italians, I would have the decency to change it. It's really not a big deal.

Or Swedes, Danes and Icelanders, all of whom have some Viking connection.

No, lets not. If Native Americans dont find it insulting or offensive, unaffected PC Liberals should butt out.

    A former Chief's opinion
    http://washington.cbslocal.com/2013...ould-be-offended-if-redskins-did-change-name/

Take your PC and stick it Liberals. Who are you to tell Native Americans they're offended? They're the only ones whos opinion matters here.

And with all due respect to that chief, in this thread I've repeatedly linked to a long list of indian tribes, organizations and individuals who want the name changed. It's not white liberals leading the charge here.

Many, but not all of them, are affiliated with this group:

It's a reference to Rocky & Bullwinkle, and your personal doubts carry no weight in this discussion.

So it took 82 years to figure this out? This is nothing more than political correctness being forced on the people by the PC police. Just another attempt for the left to control everything. How much more of this do you think you can get away with before the sh*& hits the fan? There has never been such an interventionist administration in the history of this country.

This has been going on for a while. The first national exposure came when the Washington Redskins were playing for the Superbowl against the Buffalo bills in 1992. ESPN has done some commentaries, both for and against the name change, with some of their leading sports writers. In other words, this is not something new, it has been going on for a long time.

You're missing the point - I'm pretty sure the point is that the fact that a baseball team that's been using this name for god-knows-how-long is drumming up so much media attention is just more proof of political correctness run amok

The Washington Redskins fans seem quite proud of it. And the owner is NOT going to change it.....good for him.

You know......Minnesota Vikings is offensive to me. I have Viking Ancestors....and I believe your Minnesota team is simply making fun of them. Surely your state's team can find something less offensive

Perhaps since everyone is so "PC" now......we should disallow ANY teams to be named after ANY Indian group. Most of us think of it as an honor....but since it's offensive to "some" of them.....let's just not honor them with naming the Capitol's football team after them. No tribal names either......since that's offensive to some people.....

    :)

They tried this back in the 1990's. It failed then. It will fail again. If the Redskins appeal, they will prevail once again. Bunch of PC idiots trying to inflict their will.

I just came up with THE name. It encapsulates Washington D.C. as well as the team itself:

    The Washington Foreskins!!

Having lived in the Dallas area for 19 yrs and looking forward to the Cowboys-Redskins (NFC East) (i.e. Cowboys & Indians) shoot out every year, some how the Cowboys vs. the "Do Nothing Congress" shoot out doesnt sound as great...
