Yeah the clip showed where it was fired. It is fairly obvious this was a super freaky accident

Please expand on that. For instance, it is my experience that most of the guys (and some gals) that open carry for effect or carry rifles to make a point (a very small minority) are usually young. Being young usually means more passion for whatever cause they believe in. In the context of human nature, this is understandable.

Well now, there is a thoughtful and responsible answer to a question. In other words, you don't have an answer but prefer lampooning than actual debate.

Can anyone explain what the hell the point of firing a howitzer is? Is a loud bang really that exciting?

Wrong. A gun nut is someone who feels the need to carry their toy wherever they want... into bars, churches, restaurants. It's someone who feels so threatened, frightened and paranoid they can't go outside without their gun. It's someone who's afraid to be in their house without a loaded gun incase someone breaks in.

It's someone who dismisses the slaughter of innocents. It's someone that shrugs off school massacres. It's someone who believes carrying a gun gives you "freedom". A gun nut will make a fool of himself comparing a gun with a knife or a bow and arrow.

It's those people who place their guns over public safety. Those are the kind of people who shouldn't be owning guns in the first place.

So if someone keeps a fire extinguisher in their kitchen, are they a "fire extinguisher nut", or simply prepared to deal with something that might happen, even if it's unlikely. A gun is a tool that enables humans to defend themselves from other humans who intend evil. Or, if you happen to find yourself in a less urban envionment, possibly wildlife as well.

Because it's unnecessary. If you encounter a fire while out and about, you escape. If it's in your own kitchen, it's your responsibility to deal with. Carrying a firearm on your person is a game leveler in case you are targeted. Although I don't know why I'm arguing with you, if you don't get why carrying a weapon is smart, then you're already too far gone.

The only one I'm putting at risk is the criminal who forces me to use said gun.

What education do you need? You put shells in one end, squeeze a trigger, it goes 'bang' and a bullet comes out the other end and puts holes in things. Not very complicated, is it?
